"One hundred slaps!"
Louis Jefferson looked at Ella Lacey's swollen peach-pit eyes, unable to contain his anger. He yelled directly at Rory Frott.
Ella stared at this side of Louis Jefferson, feeling so unfamiliar. He never got angry like this.
But for her, he could become so resolute and assertive.
For a moment, she inexplicably felt very happy.
"Slap, slap, slap, slap..."
One loud slap followed another. Rory Frott obediently slapped his left cheek, then his right, the sounds echoing crisply.
In no time at all, his cheeks turned blue and purple, and he looked miserable.
"Keep slapping! You can't stop till you've hit a hundred!" Louis demanded.
"Okay..." Rory Frott gritted his teeth in pain, it was absurd to hit oneself with such force, but if he didn't, how could he satisfy Louis?
"Ella, let's go."
Louis hugged Ella and took the elevator directly down to the ground floor.
