The three of them found the lost little lamb at the shallows of an oasis. To be precise, it was only two of them, as Ella Lacey never left Arthur Lindsey's back.
The little white lamb was collapsed by the water, bleating pitifully...
Juliette Jones went forward and, using her flashlight, discovered that it had been bitten by a snake. She hastily bandaged the lamb's injured leg with the tools she had and cradled it in her arms.
Ella watched with compassion as the lamb's leg bled, and admired Juliette's efficiency in dealing with the situation. "You seem so adept!" she said.
"I grew up with the lambs," Juliette said quietly.
She then stood up, holding the young lamb, and walked ahead.
Ella watched Juliette's lonely figure retreating, an inexplicable sourness welling up in her nose...

Under Juliette's guidance, they returned to Jones Bay.
