Arthur Lindsey took the rope and swiftly tied it to a nearby ancient pine tree. Then, after tying a deadly knot, he used long nails to fix the end of the rope separately to the old pine and the ground.
Ella Lacey downstairs heard the sound of Arthur Lindsey hammering the nails and felt very relieved.
