"What's with me?" Vermes Marley curved his lips into a naughty smile.
"Nothing at all."
Ella Lacey regained her composure. She thought it was too much of a coincidence, just a few days ago she had stepped on his pair of white sneakers and now, this happened again.
She tactfully said, "You're going to have to throw away another pair of shoes."
"Who said I'm throwing them away?" Vermes Marley suddenly removed his shoes and handed them to her, ordering, "Clean them and return them to me!"
"..." Ella felt insulted.
Wasn't he supposed to be the aloof heartthrob of the school?
Doesn't he hate others touching his stuff?
Wouldn't he rather throw them away than feel regret?
...
Unexpectedly, he had no principles.
Ella took the shoes from him without fear. "Sure, it's just a chore to clean a pair of shoes."
"You better clean them thoroughly!"
With that said, Vermes Marley coolly turned around and left.
His bare feet on the ground drew the attention of passers-by.
