Arthur Lindsey, who had been about to step away, abruptly halted, "By the way, why were you on the mountain so early today?"
He originally wouldn't have asked the question since a simple investigation would reveal the answer, yet he wanted to hear Louis's response.
Louis adjusted the black frame of his glasses, a sheepish smile on his face, "I was notified by a police officer. They said that Ella had requested for me to accompany her…"
That was indeed an unexpected answer.
Unexpected to the point that Arthur's heart seemed to shatter…
If he had gone directly to the mountain after disembarking the plane that night, he would have been the first one to be by her side.
