Anna didn't know how she had managed to return to "City Hospital."
In her hurried rush to catch a taxi at the Silicon Valley Villa entrance, she accidentally left one of her sandals outside the car and feared that Connor Osborne might catch up; she didn't even dare ask the taxi driver to stop and pick it up.
Because she'd lost one shoe, she couldn't go directly back to the hospital by taxi, especially since she didn't have spare shoes there, so she had the driver stop at the nearest shopping mall entrance to the hospital so she could buy a pair of shoes.
After paying the taxi fare and getting out, her luck couldn't be worse. Just a few steps away from the car, the bare foot was kicked, injuring the big toe and even drawing blood, causing her to grimace in pain.
