"Surgery is already done, and we even had a chat this afternoon. Just now the pain was too severe, so we used a syringe pump, and now he's asleep. It's going to take a few hours before he wakes up," Anna answered truthfully.
"As long as the surgery is done, that's good," Irene nodded in relief. "Anna, you must be exhausted too, go home and rest awhile. I'll have Bobby come and take over for you."
"Thank you, Grandmother, but there's no need. I had a nap this afternoon and I'm not that tired. There'll be a nurse watching over tonight, so I can still get some more sleep," Anna said gently, declining the offer.
Irene mused for a moment, then looked up at Anna: "In this matter, hasn't Connor been a little too heartless? Do you blame him?"
"I don't blame him because he has no obligation to visit Chris," Anna said, looking at Irene calmly, "These past two days, I've been blaming myself. If I hadn't left Chris alone in our hometown, maybe this wouldn't have happened."
