"Why are you standing here?" In the blink of an eye, Jeremy Thompson was already in front of her, his gaze lowered, staring at her as she was stunned.
His deep and husky voice momentarily overlapped with the "I know" he had said on the phone earlier, and Anna was a bit slow to react.
"Why did you come?" Anna finally spoke, her voice both hoarse and raspy.
Jeremy didn't answer her but instead turned and unlocked the door to look inside. "Is your younger brother in there?"
Anna nodded, thinking he was going to go into the ward, but he unexpectedly closed the door, turned around, and headed to the on-duty doctor's office.
An instinctual pause held Anna, then she found herself following him involuntarily. Just as she reached the doorway, she heard Jeremy saying, "The expert will be here any moment now, I've already coordinated with your dean, and he agreed to have experts from another hospital come in...."
Experts from another hospital? Anna was completely baffled; Jeremy meant....
