"Raine, what's wrong?" Alexander Preston noticed something was off and quickly reached out to lift Raine Thompson's bowed head.
Her originally pale face was flushed, as if she were running a fever, and her teeth were clamped tightly on the corner of her lips, biting down until marks of blood appeared.
Alexander was briefly stunned before realizing the situation: Raine had been poisoned. That damn middle-aged man must have slipped an aphrodisiac into Raine's drink.
He quickly opened the car door, got out, walked around the front of the car, and yanked open the passenger car door, then helped Raine out of the car with water.
"I'll take you upstairs." He adjusted the coat on her body and then supported her toward the Entrance Hall.
There weren't many people around tonight, and they quickly got to the 16th floor. He took the key out of Raine's bag to unlock the door, then steadied her stumbling form inside.
