William Richardson didn't answer, but as soon as Frederick Richardson entered the doorway, he saw Susanna Smith sitting on the sofa, sipping tea. From the teacup in front of her, he could tell she had been there for some time.
"Madam Thompson, how come you have time to visit today?" Frederick greeted Susanna coolly, a friend's wife should not be greeted too warmly.
"I came to talk to Mr. Richardson about something," Susanna Smith stood up, looking at Frederick and asked, "Can we find a more secluded place?"
"A secluded place?" Frederick frowned slightly, "Madam Thompson, whatever you have to say, you can say it here in the living room. It's fine, my servants won't eavesdrop, they wouldn't dare to be so talkative."
"But, this matter, I would like to discuss it with you in private." Susanna Smith hesitated, glancing around, still worried about walls having ears.
