As William Davis was engulfed in smoke, Madeline Watson entered with a wrinkled brow.
"What's the matter? Frowning like you've been wronged? Who owes you something now?" William Davis's tone was clearly displeased; he loathed seeing Madeline Watson with that expression.
"I was at the sound system bookstore with Phoebe Smith today, and we bumped into Jaylene Ziel," Madeline Watson recounted the afternoon's events to William Davis.
"What? You said Jaylene Ziel called you Miss Richardson?" William Davis was obviously shocked. "Did you expose anything?"
Madeline Watson quickly shook her head. "No, I didn't reveal anything. She just called me Miss Richardson, and I chose to ignore it as if I hadn't heard her. Instead, Phoebe was the one arguing with her."
