"Second brother, today is Valentine's Day and I haven't received any gifts. Can you buy a bouquet of roses for me tonight?" Phoebe Smith pouts and asks Joseph Thompson, who is sitting in the driver's seat.
"Roses are for lovers; it's not appropriate for me to give them to you," Joseph answers impatiently, frowning.
"But you've given them to me before," Phoebe whines. "Second brother, just give me a bouquet and pretend to be my boyfriend, okay?"
"No," Joseph refuses without thinking. "I've never given you roses before, I've given you rose flowers. You were young then, and it was to comfort you. You're older now; you should understand that flowers aren't given casually."
"Hmph, stingy," Phoebe complains. "Cousin, you're not acting like a cousin. I just want..."
Before Phoebe can finish her sentence, Joseph's gaze turns to the car window, and in the next second, he sees Jaylene Ziel's retreating silhouette.
"Brother Joseph," Phoebe calls out.
