At noon, Jaylene Ziel had lunch at the western restaurant across the corner from the company.
Actually, she was not very fond of Western cuisine, but she had eaten at the dining hall for three to four days in a row. Moreover, to avoid overhearing the company's gossip concerning the many roses she received early in the morning, she still chose to dine at the western restaurant.
Today was February 14th Valentine's Day. Perhaps because people had to work during the day, even the western restaurant had few couples having lunch together at noon. There were just a few more guests than usual.
She didn't come down too early, so there were no seats by the window available when she walked into the western restaurant. She didn't mind; it was all the same for one person to sit anywhere.
The waiter led her to a corner, and as she sat down and ordered, she picked up the water cup and was about to drink when she heard a somewhat familiar voice behind her: "Jaylene?"
