Jaylene Ziel and Joseph Thompson got their Marriage Certificate on the 7th day of the first lunar month. The Civil Affairs Bureau had just resumed work on that day after the New Year.
During the New Year, Joseph had arranged a two-day trip to Mount Sanford. They spent four days in total, including the time spent traveling by car and plane. So, when they returned to Bay City it was already the evening of the 6th day. Jaylene originally wanted Joseph to go back to Thompson Manor, but he refused and followed her back to the Ziel Family's home.
In Joseph's words, the Civil Affairs Bureau would be open for business on the 7th, and since a temporary ID could be used to apply for a Marriage Certificate, they would go early in the morning on that day.
To prevent any accidents like the one that occurred the last time they went to get a Marriage Certificate, Joseph insisted on not letting Jaylene arrive separately at the Civil Affairs Bureau. They must go together by car.
