"Hehe, you'll soon find out that I'm not only a person but a man too,"
Hendrick's words haven't finished yet when he heard the voice of the maid coming from upstairs: "William, Alice is calling."
Hendrick looked at Jaylene, and his hand from her face slid off. After looking at her for a moment, with a hint of reluctance, he turned and left the basement.
Jaylene didn't know who Alice was, but judging from Hendrick's immediate release of her to answer the phone, she assumed that Alice must be a very important person to Hendrick.
With Hendrick gone, Jaylene was temporarily safe, but this temporary safety didn't mean real safety because she knew that she has to escape for that.
About ten minutes later, there came the sound of a car starting outside the basement. Jaylene guessed that Hendrick should have driven away, then she finally heaved a sigh of relief.
