Having finished his cigarette, he still didn't feel the slightest drowsiness. He extinguished the cigarette in the ashtray on the bedside table inside his room, and then glanced at the large bed against the wall.
If his memory served him right, Jaylene's bed was also positioned against this particular wall. In a spur of the moment, he got up, lay down on the bed, and gave the wall a few knocks.
"Jaylene, are you asleep?" He called softly, "Jaylene, I can't sleep, I miss you too much."
For a while, no sound came from the neighbouring room, which annoyed him. He put his ear against the wall and could faintly hear the steady breathing that was coming from room next door.
Well, this callous woman, here he was longing for her while she was sound asleep!
Wasn't she usually particular about her bed? Wasn't she the one who always complained about not being able to sleep in unfamiliar environments and beds? How did she fall asleep tonight?
