"It's okay, I'll walk you to the doorway," Joseph Thompson said, looking down at her, "I won't go inside with you."
"No," Jaylene insisted, not letting him go upstairs, "Hurry back home, I really need to rest tonight."
"Jaylene," Joseph Thompson backed her into a dark corner, his deep, raspy voice echoed in her ear, "I've been away for a while… Didn't you miss me at all?"
"I didn't," Jaylene gritted her teeth, turning her face away from him.
Joseph Thompson chuckled, his hand gently stroking her shoulder. He leaned down to kiss her cheek but ended up moving his thin lips to her earlobe, his whisper filled with flirtatious intent.
"I miss... My wife, I miss you... Badly... I'm in pain... Can I come upstairs and stay with you?"
"No," Jaylene stuck to her point, "My dad isn't home, and for a man to come to my place, if word gets out, my reputation…"
