"Are you hungry?" Joseph Thompson drove into the city and turned to ask Jaylene, who was in the passenger seat.
"Mmm, a bit," Jaylene admitted with an embarrassed smile.
Due to the crowd and her nerves, she hadn't eaten much in the evening. Then she had a quarrel with the Campbell family, and now she was genuinely hungry.
"What do you want to eat?" Joseph asked her softly. "It's ten o'clock at night now, you can have a late-night snack."
"Spicy crayfish," Jaylene answered without a second thought. When she thought about eating, the first thing that came to her mind was spicy crayfish.
"Spicy crayfish?" Joseph was taken aback, he glanced at her, then gently reminded, "The crayfish is quite spicy."
"I know," Jaylene rolled her eyes at him. Wasn't she old enough to know that crayfish was spicy? "We can order it with less spice."
"..."
Joseph wasn't sure what to say. He remembered that Jaylene didn't like spicy food in the past. Had her tastes changed after her trip to the UK?
