Jaylene stayed in the ward until almost 10 p.m. before leaving, because the hospital stipulated that after 10 p.m., all visitors had to leave the hospital wards.
When she came out from the Inpatient Department, she realized it was raining, and she didn't have an umbrella with her. Left with no choice, she ran out into the rain, thinking about making it to the convenience store at the hospital entrance to see if it was closed.
As she took a couple of steps, a car door beside her was pushed open. Alexander Preston came out with an umbrella and grabbed her wrist.
"Jaylene, get in the car. I'll give you a ride," his voice was somewhat urgent.
"No need," Jaylene shook off his hand firmly and turned to run towards the hospital entrance.
She hadn't forgotten about the encounter at the café with Alexander before going abroad, where they had coffee together. Even a fool knew she had been played by Alexander.
