On the last day of the Gregorian calendar, Jaylene wasn't that busy. She tidied up her office desk in the morning, submitted the summary report, and had almost nothing to do in the afternoon.
"Assistant Ziel, what are you going to wear to the New Year's party tonight?" Griffin asked excitedly as he ran over.
"I'm not going tonight." Jaylene smiled and told Griffin.
"Why not?" Griffin looked at her in surprise. "You're our design department's hero. Maybe when Director Lewis's contract ends, you'll be our director."
"I resigned," Jaylene said indifferently. "My resignation report has been approved."
"What?" Griffin exclaimed, looking at her with disbelief, doubting his ears. "Assistant Ziel, did you just say – you resigned?"
Jaylene nodded, confirming that he heard correctly.
"Why?" Griffin looked at her puzzled. "Why would you resign after making a significant contribution? Isn't it against workplace logic to wait for a promotion after achieving something?"
