The ladies felt a tad awkward, exchanging glances. Although they had agreed to the kiss challenge with Joseph Thompson, most of them were attached to other men.
"Now, no drawing lots for the men, just for the ladies," laughed Ray Thornton, passing his hand with the toothpicks for the draw to Phoebe Smith, "Phoebe, your turn please."
Because of the tension, Phoebe's face was flushed. She drew a toothpick with her trembling hand, and her face fell. She had drawn a full-length toothpick.
"Miss Ziel, your turn," Ray continued, his hand outstretched towards Jaylene.
Jaylene glanced at the hand and frowned, "Can I abstain from this game?"
"No, you can't," Ray shook his head, "Everyone present has to participate, or else how could we continue playing?"
Jaylene hesitated for a moment and eventually reached out, drawing a toothpick from the same place Phoebe had just drawn hers.
