At the City Hospital, after Jaylene hung up on Joseph's phone call, she was so weak she could barely stand, leaning against the wall.
Her mother had been out of the emergency room for three hours, but there was no sign of her waking up. Her father was about to collapse, and so was she.
The doctor said if she didn't wake up within four hours, nothing could be done.
Now, three hours had passed, but Nancy, with an oxygen tube inserted, still lay unconscious.
Her father was guarding her mother's bedside. Jaylene had just come out to take a phone call, and at the moment, she could hardly stand against the wall. Finally, she squatted down, covering her face with both hands, and her tears spilled out silently through her fingers.
Just then, the door to the ward opened, and her father's surprised voice came: "Doctor, nurse, come and see, she's awake, Nancy has come to!"
