"Open your eyes!" Once they reached the building of the company and stood in the sunlight, Kevin Cliff set her down and commanded.
Charlotte Green's eyes did open, but she immediately looked away or down at the ground.
Kevin Cliff lifted her face, forcing her line of sight to meet the sunlight, and almost at the same time, Charlotte immediately closed her eyes again.
Kevin Cliff's brows furrowed tighter, enough to squash a mosquito. He no longer forced her, instead, he scooped her up horizontally, carried her to the car, and then hurried to the driver's seat and drove away without delay.
The car moved along with the setting sun in the background.
Kevin Cliff looked at the woman next to him, curled up like a shrimp. Her head hung very low against the car window, cradling her head to shroud herself in darkness as much as possible.
His heart clenched fiercely.
What on earth had happened to her again? Why was she behaving like this?
