He lowered his head to look at the key in his palm, seemingly hesitant about whether to unlock the door.
"Senior, why won't you come in?" Charlotte Green asked in confusion.
Hearing her voice, Gavin Turner felt as if he were in a trance, as if awakening from another world.
He slowly lifted his gaze, pushed his glasses up, and met her eyes; her complexion was still that pale.
"I just came to see if you had returned, and now that you have, I won't disturb you."
His smile was still gentle, but it carried a sense of estrangement; his tone was still friendly, yet it sounded distant.
Charlotte sensed it clearly, very clearly!
"Senior, is something wrong?" she asked cautiously.
"Nothing. Don't overthink it. I'm going to rest now, I have surgery early tomorrow morning." In truth, he lied; lately, he had taken on very few surgeries because of her issues.
Charlotte knew he had something troubling him; she didn't press further, simply smiling, "Then you should head off right away."
