"Charlotte... Charlotte..."
Who was calling her?
"Charlotte, wake up, it'll be alright, be good..." He held her tenderly, gently trying to awaken her.
Seeing the fruit knife that had fallen at her feet, an idea flashed through his mind, but the noisy commotion at the door made it impossible for him to act on it.
"Charlotte, I'm Gavin Turner, your senior, I'm here, don't be afraid..." He gently gripped her blood-stained hands, perhaps the touch awakened her stupor.
"Senior... what if he's dead? What do we do?" Charlotte Green gradually regained her senses and, seeing Gavin, clung to him like a lifeline, murmuring in terror.
"Don't be afraid... I'm here!" Gavin pressed her head into his chest, ensuring she didn't say anything in her panic that could work against her, especially with so many ears around.
Charlotte Green trembled non-stop in Gavin's arms, murmuring something indistinct.
Leaving was no longer an option, for someone had already called the police.
