"But, Charlotte, can you really leave without any attachments?" She could tell that Charlotte Green had been a lot happier lately. When she talked about her husband, her face no longer wore the troubled frown of the past, but a smile that reached her eyes. Was she aware of it?
"Of course, I can!" Charlotte Green pushed her away, firmly declaring as if she was also convincing herself.
And as Abigail Summer was pushed so emotionally by her, caught off guard, she tumbled into the flower field beside them. Her skin was painfully pricked by the freshly cut stems, prompting her to cry out in pain.
Charlotte Green hurriedly reached out to pull her up, but a figure rushed over and pulled her away even faster.
The force was so great she nearly fell, but thankfully she was able to steady herself using a pile of flower stems.
"Little Abigail, how are you?" Kevin Cliff bent down to pick up Abigail Summer, his usually stern face turning a shade paler.
