When Kevin Cliff returned to Star Garden, Charlotte Green had already left. There wasn't a single trace in the bedroom that she had ever lived there, not even a strand of hair out of place.
"Why didn't you stop her!" he growled as he watched from the Control Room's security camera footage of her leaving with a simple suitcase around four o'clock in the afternoon, alone.
"Miss Green said it was Master's orders, so we didn't stop her," Sister Liu explained.
"Wester Welson, what did she say when you brought her back?" How dare she leave without permission, who gave her the audacity!
"The madam asked me if you had any other messages for her, and I said you didn't have any other instructions. Then the madam just smiled and asked back, 'Is that so?'" Wester Welson reported everything faithfully, of course, except for the rescue of Sophia Young.
Laughing in a situation like that was nothing short of diabolical!
Kevin's face was dark with rage as he barked out, "Find her!"
