With a loud "bang," the bowls and chopsticks were furiously slammed onto the coffee table. Had Charlotte not known that Kevin, no matter how angry, would not hit anyone, she would have really thought he was about to get violent with her.
"Swallow it down!" Kevin Cliff placed the glass of Pure Water forcefully in front of her, making her swallow what was in her mouth.
Struggling with the water, Charlotte managed to swallow the mouthful of rice, even choking on it in haste, almost getting it stuck in her throat. She put down the empty cup, raised her hand to wipe away the tear streaks on her cheeks, and attempted to cover it up, "It's because I choked."
"Did I say you were crying?" Kevin Cliff felt like laughing from the bottom of his heart. She was already crying, yet still making excuses.
Charlotte was at a loss for words and picked up her bag to leave.
"Your elder brother called to warn me not to be too nice to you," Kevin's voice rose powerfully from behind her.
