Chapter 107 - Foundation of the universe

The voice from the pearl continued, its tone contemplative, "While I have been dormant for countless eons, the foundation of our universe has always remained consistent. Its underlying fabric, its principles, and its elemental essence have always been identifiable. Yet this symbol disrupts that understanding. It's as though it's an amalgamation of familiar and unfamiliar energies."

Elrian, trying to grasp the magnitude of what he was hearing, spoke up, "So, you're saying that even though the universe might evolve and introduce new phenomena, its basic nature shouldn't change?"

"Exactly," responded the voice. "The cosmos has its own order, and while new elements or entities might emerge, they still adhere to the foundational laws that govern our realm. But this symbol, it's like a puzzle piece that doesn't quite fit. It carries with it traces of our world's essence, but there's also an alien aspect to it."

Serpwingra chimed in, his voice tinged with awe, "It's as if it's a bridge between two different universes, combining elements from both."

Elrian nodded, "But how can something like that exist? How can two universes, with possibly different laws, merge or intersect?"

The voice of the pearl answered, "There are ancient legends and theories about multiple universes or dimensions. In some rare instances, these universes might come into brief contact, creating rifts or overlaps. If a being from another universe crossed into ours through such a rift, it might carry with it the essence of its original universe, resulting in anomalies like this symbol."

Elrian pondered this for a moment. The implications were vast, and he felt a mix of excitement and trepidation. "So, this snake, or the creature from which the symbol originates, might be a harbinger of something bigger? An indication that our universe is intersecting with another?"

The voice replied, "It's a possibility. The mere existence of this symbol suggests that boundaries between universes, once thought impenetrable, might be more porous than we believed."

Elrian felt a shiver run down his spine. The universe, with all its vastness and mysteries, had just become even more enigmatic.

The voice from the pearl tried to soothe Elrian's rising anxieties. "Listen, Elrian, while the implications of this symbol are vast and potentially universe-shattering, it doesn't directly translate to immediate danger for you or those you care about. This universe is vast, and many corners of it remain untouched by even the most powerful entities. For beings of such magnitude, a remote village like yours is akin to a single grain of sand on a vast beach. They have bigger concerns."

Elrian frowned, looking pensive. "So, we're too insignificant to matter? That's supposed to make me feel better?"

"In a way, yes," responded the voice gently. "For now, the challenges and mysteries of this new symbol are beyond your current realm of influence. But every powerful entity, every great sage or warrior, started from a place of insignificance. It's about the journey and what you choose to do with the knowledge and power you gain."

Serpwingra interjected, "The voice has a point, Elrian. While these revelations are alarming, they also remind us of the vastness of the universe and how much there is to learn and discover. Instead of worrying about hypothetical threats beyond our control, we should focus on what we can influence."

Elrian sighed, trying to push away the unease. "You're right. For now, my main concern should be strengthening myself and protecting my village. If ever there's a day when these cosmic anomalies become a direct threat, I want to be ready."

He paused, his gaze thoughtful. "But it's still hard to shake off the feeling that something big is on the horizon. And while those two snakes may not be the most powerful creatures out there, they are an indicator that our universe is changing. And with change comes uncertainty."

The voice's tone turned solemn, "Elrian, the potential contained within that new symbol is vast, and harnessing it is not a simple task. As you stand now, you don't possess the necessary strength or understanding to truly tap into its potential. The power this new symbol holds isn't something that can be reached with just an increase in cultivation level or mastering new techniques."

Elrian looked slightly disheartened, "Then how am I supposed to unlock its power?"

Serpwingra, floating by his side, added, "It seems like a distant goal, one that may be beyond our current comprehension."

The voice continued, "To truly utilize this symbol, you would need to invent a completely new ability for the pearl. And creating such an ability, well, it's akin to trying to dominate the known universe. The challenges, the unknowns, the variables... it's not a feat that can be achieved overnight or even in a lifetime."

Elrian took a deep breath, attempting to process the weight of what was being conveyed. "So, you're saying it's nearly impossible?"

"Not impossible, just... monumental," the voice corrected gently. "But for now, Elrian, I would advise against obsessing over this revelation. Focus on what's in front of you, the skills and knowledge that Serpwingra and I can provide. Train hard, grow stronger, and gain more understanding. With time and dedication, answers will reveal themselves. But for now, your immediate growth and well-being should be your priority."

Serpwingra nodded in agreement, "The universe is vast and full of mysteries. We've stumbled upon one of them, but that doesn't mean we should lose sight of our current path. One step at a time, Elrian."

Elrian slowly nodded, appreciating the wisdom in the words. "You're right. For now, I need to focus on the present and prepare for the challenges ahead. Whatever this symbol represents, I trust that when the time comes, I'll be ready to face it."
