Chapter 40 - The Massacre

Amidst the chaos that engulfed Soragakure, a small explosion reverberated through the corridors, followed by screams of agony and the chilling silence of death. The acrid smell of blood hung heavy in the air, a grim reminder of the violence unfolding around Mitsuko. Instinctively, he quickened his pace, his senses on high alert.

"Some idiot has decided to attack our headquarters in broad daylight," Mitsuko thought, his mind racing to make sense of the madness. Considering the scale of the massacre, he couldn't fathom the audacity of their attackers. Were they just that confident or just utterly foolish?

"But it doesn't matter," Mitsuko muttered, steeling his resolve. He knew his own strength well. In their headquarters and their entire country, he was the strongest.

Regardless of the audacious hooligans who dared to terrorize his village, they would find themselves powerless when they faced Mitsuko. He tightened his grip on his weapon, determined to quell the chaos and protect his home.

Mitsuko's determined footsteps resounded, echoing through the narrow alleyway as he approached the impending sharp right turn. The metallic tang of blood hung in the air, and the claustrophobic walls seemed to inch closer, encircling him.

Just as he was about to the turn, a sudden rush of air sliced past him, accompanied by a jarring thud. A heartbeat later, a dull, hollow sound reverberated through the narrow passage as something heavy collided with the floor on his left.

Time seemed to freeze as Mitsuko stood rooted to the spot, his eyes widening in disbelief at the abrupt stillness. Compelled by an unnerving sense of dread, he turned his head slowly, his gaze falling upon the twisted, disfigured torso of a fellow Jōnin from his village.

In that frozen moment, Mitsuko's eyes widened in disbelief, his horror deepening as he witnessed the twisted form of his fallen comrade. The whispered plea, barely audible, hung in the air, a futile attempt to warn him, but time had already run out.

"R-Run away..." The Jōnin's lips moved, the words lost in the chaos, but their meaning seared into Mitsuko's mind as a haunting echo of his final warning—a warning that arrived a moment too late.

Before Mitsuko could react, the air was cleaved by a deadly, silent whisper of death—Sllach.

A chained scythe, wielded by an unseen reaper, claimed Mitsuko's life with a merciless stroke, severing his neck before he could even turn to face his assailant. Mitsuko's valiant spirit was extinguished in an instant, leaving behind only the chilling aftermath of his demise, a testament to the brutality of battle.

Yet, to Enkai, Mitsuko's death was merely another statistic in his ever-increasing kill count. The fallen Jōnin's demise was inconsequential in the eyes of the remorseless assassin.

With a calculated indifference, Enkai released his grip on the blood-stained scythe, its edge dulled by reaping countless lives that day. He summoned another weapon, undeterred and unrelenting.

Turning with cold indifference, Enkai's eyes fell upon Gaara, whose sand crushed multiple exploding kunai launching crossbows strapped to the ceiling. Each shot became an orchestrated dance of destruction, kunais futilely met by an impenetrable force of Gaara's sand.

Beside him, Yagura unleashed torrents of hand-sized water bullets, a deadly cascade that repelled the shinobis coming from another entrance.

In this dance of death, Enkai remained the orchestrator, his purpose unwavering amidst the carnage. The battle raged on, a clash of elemental prowess and ruthless precision, as Soragakure's defenders fought with unyielding determination against the encroaching darkness.

Surveying his subordinates, Enkai summoned a small notepad, and scribbled something, "Need for Improvement in our Teamwork." His expression remained stoic, a mask of indifference, as he nodded to himself, acknowledging the room for growth within their team.

Once Yagura and Gaara had finished their deadly ballet, they turned their gazes to Enkai, awaiting his command.

Yagura broke the silence, his voice steady and composed, "Which way should we go now?"

Enkai met Yagura's gaze, a heavy sigh escaping his lips before he turned his attention to the room they were in. It was a critical juncture with three entrances—the path they had entered from and two unknown routes ahead, veiled in uncertainty.

With a decisive gesture, he pointed towards the entrance near Yagura and spoke with unwavering authority, "Yagura, Gaara, you two head in that direction. Follow a strategy—Gaara, provide defense and support, while Yagura takes the offensive. Yagura, you're in charge."

A moment of gravity settled upon Enkai as he locked eyes with Yagura. "If worst comes to worst," he said, his tone weighted with urgency, "don't concern yourself with minimizing damage to this place. Always prioritize safety over the mission." His words, laced with solemnity, emphasized the importance of their lives over any material cost.

Yagura responded with a small smile, a silent acknowledgment of the trust placed in him. He turned to Gaara, determination gleaming in his eyes. "Let's go, Gaara."

As Yagura and Gaara vanished into the shadows of the alley, Enkai followed suit, walking purposefully into the entrance nearest to him.

Enkai moved with a calculated gaze, swiftly dispatching any ninja unfortunate enough to cross his path. Occasionally, he extracted valuable information from his victims, using it to navigate his way toward the heart of Soragakure.

As he moved through the intricate structure of Ancor Vantian, Enkai couldn't help but marvel at the advanced technology that surrounded him. The innovation present in this place, crafted by the sky ninja, struck him as both impressive and unnatural.

Enkai's footsteps echoed through the marvels of technology, each corridor revealing inventions that defied the confines of the familiar Naruto universe. The advanced gadgets and innovations he encountered surpassed anything ever depicted in the original manga.

Yet, Enkai grappled with the inconsistencies within this world. The amalgamation of manga and filler events had given rise to a technological landscape that defied logic.

Technological inconsistency was always there even in the manga world, computers existed while fundamental inventions like steam engines, telephones, and guns remained absent, a void he had initially attributed to the dominance of ninjas and chakra.

However, the existence of this technologically advanced filler-filled world shattered his assumptions, forcing him to reconsider the boundaries of the Naruto reality. Enkai grappled with the disparities within the Naruto universe.

Enkai's fragmented knowledge painted a vivid picture of the diverse technological landscape within the Naruto world. The Land of Snow boasted innovations like railroads, airships, snowmobiles, power generators, and volley guns that shot kunais. Yet, their most formidable creation was a unique Chakra Armor, offering virtual immunity against Ninjutsu and Genjutsu based attacks, a defense that Enkai believed could be breached by exceptionally high-level assaults.

In contrast, the warlord Haido possessed a moving mechanical castle equipped with machines capable of altering the very fabric of life, a form of genetic engineering that Enkai deemed invaluable in the pursuit of power and control.

Then there was the Land of Sky, a nation armed with machine guns utilizing wind pressure to shoot kunais, gliders enabling flight for those proficient in wind nature control, and a flying base housing a weapon capable of unleashing devastation akin to a bijuu dama.

These instances illuminated the potential that lay beyond the confines of the core Naruto narrative, leaving Enkai both intrigued and apprehensive as he navigated this intricate blend of canon and filler elements.

A determined smile graced Enkai's lips as he contemplated the possibilities. With access to such advanced technology, his potential seemed boundless. The prospect of harnessing these innovations fueled his resolve, transforming him into a formidable force within this intricate blend of chakra, warfare, and invention.

Soon, however, Enkai's thoughts were consumed by a cloud of worry, his expression darkening with concern. The potential consequences of powerful filler elements merging with the canonical Naruto world weighed heavily on his mind. He grappled with the unsettling notion that these interactions could reshape the events of the original timeline in unimaginable ways, a reality he was ill-prepared to confront.

In the midst of his contemplation, a dark premonition settled within Enkai's being. A silent vow formed in his mind—an oath to monopolize every exclusive power-up from the filler Naruto world, a desperate attempt to maintain control amidst the impending chaos.

As Enkai's thoughts swirled with apprehension, he entered a room where hundreds of shinobis assembled, their hostile intent palpable in the air. Now, faced with the main army of Soragakure, a hunter's smile curved beneath Enkai's mask. His eyes transformed into Sharingan, and he leaped forward, propelled by determination and skill, ready to face the army head-on.

In the heart of the battlefield, Enkai's Sharingan blazed crimson as he entered his attack mode. His senses heightened, he swiftly analyzed the movements of the hundreds of chūnins and Jōnin level ninjas before him. With a mere blink, he closed the distance, his form a blur as he swiftly moved among them.

Summoning his weapons with effortless grace, Enkai became a whirlwind of destruction. Kunais and shurikens sliced through the air, finding their targets with deadly precision. His scythe, gleaming ominously in the sunlight, cut through enemy defenses like a hot knife through butter. Enkai's agility allowed him to dodge attacks effortlessly, his body moving in a mesmerizing dance of death.

With his Sharingan active, Enkai anticipated his opponents' moves before they even made them, mimicked those said moves and turned their own techniques against them. He would cast subtle genjutsu, misleading his enemies and leaving them vulnerable to his strikes.

In his attack mode, he was more than fast—he was a blur, a phantom haunting the battlefield, leaving a trail of fallen foes in his wake.

Meanwhile, the Sora Ninjas, skilled in their own right, attempted to mount a defense. Some used elemental jutsus, conjuring fire and water to fend off Enkai's relentless assault. Others relied on their taijutsu skills, attempting to match his speed and strike him down.

But Enkai was relentless. With a swift motion, he shifted into his defense mode. His eyes turning into fox-like slits; enhancing his blows, and allowing him to deflect blows with ease. Blades clashed against his weapons, but he stood firm, an immovable wall in the chaos of battle.

When his enemies did managed to land a blow, Enkai's inhuman healing factor kicked in. Wounds that would have felled any ordinary ninja closed before his adversaries' eyes. His stamina recovered rapidly, allowing him to maintain his relentless onslaught without pause.

In the end, Enkai's strategy proved superior. His speed, adaptability, and mastery over various weapons overwhelmed the Sora Ninjas. One by one, they fell before his might, their attacks futile against his unmatched skills.

Almost an hour after the fight, as the dust settled, Enkai stood amidst the fallen, his form a testament to the overwhelming power of a ninja at the peak of his abilities. The battlefield was soon littered with defeated enemies. His victory was an overwhelming result of his unparalleled strength and tactical brilliance.

With the annihilation of the main forces, Enkai knew that soragakure was as good as gone, and in the wake of Soragakure's devastation, Enkai began his grim task of hunting down every remaining sky ninja within Ancor Vantian.

He roamed Ancor Vantian and systematically eliminated every remaining sky ninja. His determination was unyielding, his steps echoing with purpose as he left no corner unsearched.

In time, Enkai's path converged with Yagura and Gaara, their expressions hardened by the intensity of the battle. With a shared nod, they confirmed the eradication of all enemy forces within Ancor Vantian. The remnants of Soragakure had been vanquished.

Now, it was time for the final act. It was time to activate the Soragakure headquarters, the flying temple—Ancor Vantian.
