Chapter 20 - Eye of the storm

Purpled found a few different possibilities.

It could be the sign of a blessing from a god or goddess, maybe even multiple.

Highly unlikely.

Could be a bond thing.

That should have happened ages ago if it were.

The final one Purpled found is that it could be a mutation.

Surprisingly the most likely option.

Mutation can happen from many things. Powers potion effects body enchantments, and power breaks.

Power breaks are when you reach a level of power that can is above what your body can handle. In rare cases instead of dying a persons body will mutate to cope with the mass amount of power.

The people with these power breaks are called god killers or god tamers depending on how they act.

God killers are harsh and ruthless, while god tamers are calm, nice, and compassionate.

The reason both names are god related is because these people have a power level similar to gods and in the olden days people said it's how gods are made.

TimeKeeper is a good example of a god tamer. They will mutate when they time travel to much.

Many people think that being one of these would be amazing, but he has seen enough in his time to know how bad it is.

He's seen the stages of a power break and it isn't pretty.

A power break tears you apart physically and mentally. It takes away everything till the person either burns to death from their own power or mutate into something inhuman.

The mutations are said to start bland before the power break like change in hair color or skin color. Sometimes it hides as a disease or condition like cancer or hyperthermia.

From what he learned from his time working with TimeKeeper you feel the change when it happens fast. Your hyper aware of the changes.

Even after dealing with your body changing if you survive you have to deal with the government, because of the god like power it is like a nuclear bomb walking around in their eyes. The government would try to use them as a weapon depending on the power of the person.

TimeKeeper was a hero before the mutation, but they said they were treated much differently afterwards.

TimeKepper's mutation is called a 'transforming B.T.T'. B.T.T means B level time travel. The transforming part is because they turn into a mutation instead of staying as one.

The reason this is running through his head is because Purpled said it looked like he transformed into something when he made the forest dark. He also found out his roots are turning white which is something he noticed in his 'castle dream' as he called it.

It's something he didn't notice over all the weird features like horns and wings and he still had golden bangs so he didn't notice the snow white hair.

He doesn't like where this is leading.

Is the castle dream realer than he thought?

The thought makes him him shiver a bit remembering how scary he looks in the castle dream.

The bell rings and he looks up from the counter he was laying on as he spirals.

Techno is the person he is meet with.

"Are you okay runt?" Techno asks, looking at his tired eyes from spiraling.

"No, had a bad past three days." He admits to tired to care about hiding it.

Techno grabs under his armpits and lifts him up over the counter.

He stares at Techno with a blank stare. To exhausted to complain.

Techno puts him onto one of the seats and sits down beside him. Techno fidgets a bit obviously not knowing what to do next.

 The introverted sucker.

"So- what happened these past three days to make them so bad?" Techno finally asks.

"You want the quick version or the long version?" He asks, looking over at Techno.

"Both?" Techno squeaks out.

"That wasn't a option but okay." He laughs at Techno, getting some energy back.

He lays back, looking up at the ceiling, taking in a deep breath.

"I've been having dreams. They've been going on since before these past three days, but I've noticed something. Three days ago I got into a argument with some aquatints of mine and I did something. I used a power I shouldn't be able to use." He sighs, closing his eyes.

"That would mean you had a power break!" Techno yells, holding his shoulders.

"That is why I'm so stressed. I have markings." He says, lifting his sleeves to show the vine tattoos, but instead of vines it's a red splatter pattern, like blood on a crime scene.

Even with the change in pattern it sends the point home.

Techno's eyes widen at seeing them.

"Your a god tamer." Techno gasps, taking their hands off his shoulders.

"That leads back to the dreams. The mutations I'm starting to get look like the ones in that dream. Some of them are horrifying, as if made for a demon." He rants, throwing his arms up in exasperation.

"A lot of god tamers and killers with strong ability's do end up looking like that, but this is the first time hearing of one seeing how their mutations will look in a dream. Are you sure it isn't a blessing?" Techno questions, leaning back.

"Couldn't, I would have to of been blessed by a god in the dream, and I wouldn't go to it again." He explains exhaustion cradling him.

"Why are you so open to telling me this." Techno questions.

"You don't seem like a tatle-tell and aren't loud mouthed like Wilbur." He explains, leaning over onto Techno.

"Wilbur could drown out a tornado siren with how loud they are." Techno chuffs.

"Loud enough to mimic a Ender man hiss." He giggles liking the brotherly friendly insults at Wilbur.

Techno reaches into their bag pulling out the Greek mythology book they brought last time they were here.

"Let's read about the story of Hercules." Techno says, flipping to the story of Hercules.

"Didn't Blood call Blade by that name?" He asks, acting like he doesn't already know the story.

"Yup, and when you know the story it will make more sense." Techno says, finding the page that Hercules story starts on.

Techno starts to read the story.

Little does he know Techno can feel the bindings on his back. Even if they don't know what he's hiding or what they mean that doesn't deter the smirk that pushes its way onto their face.

What oh what can the small boy in their arms he hiding?

They would never expect the truth.

He meets up with his group or what they decided to call themselves 'Business bay' since they all don't just run into a figh, and after he scolded the "bosses" of the the bigger group.

"Hey look, it's our favorite dark child!" Blitz jokes, ruffling his hair.

"I am not a child!" He yells, hitting at Blitz as he starts to go through the starting route with his team.

It is the more populated part of the city so of course it's far more vibrant at night than we're he was last patrolling, but that also means far more crime.

This is going to be exciting.

"Okay so, to cover more ground were going to split up into separate routs. Blood you patrol the southern part of the district since the crime's over there are usually more bloody than the other parts. Everyone else, same as last time." Error orders leading the team.

"Yes sir!" He salutes, running to the southern part of the district.

People are to busy to notice him overhead.

It all goes fine till he spots Jester.

Oh shit, this is Jesters territory.

Jester seems to spot him as well.

"Well look what the cat dragged in, the new vigilant is knocking on my door step." Jester laughs, making their way over to him.

"Sorry, got lost trying to find were I give a shit." He mocks, stopping to give Jester a smile.

Jeater laughs, not expecting him to say something so informal.

"Nice to meet you Jester, didn't mean to bother you. I'm just going to the southern part of the district and forgot your territory is in this district." He explains, rubbing the back of his head.

"Siren wasn't lying when they said you aren't violent." Jester praises, hopping onto the roof top he's on.

"As I told Siren I just don't see a point in fighting if they aren't currently doing something bad. That just puts civilians in pointless danger, and what am I going to do? Zip tie a super villain to a telephone pole? I think not!" He explains, motioning too a near by telephone pole.

"I have a quick question. Are you part of a team?" Jester asks, tilting their head.

"Yes, how could you guess?" He asks and answers.

"You seem like you came from meeting your team, and loners don't suddenly change rout," Jester explains, looking around to make sure his team isn't around.

"We call ourselves 'Business bay' we're part of a bigger group, but that isn't really a important thing." He explains, swaying on his feet.

"I can use even the most bland of information." Jester challenges.

"Not much you can do when your talking to someone that defeated Blade." He challenges back, walking to Jester as he towers over the villain.

"Why is everyone taller than me!" Jester yells, stomping their feet.

He has to hold back saying that Tubbo is smaller.
