Chereads / Rym Kings / Chapter 16 - Soul Mason

Chapter 16 - Soul Mason

Bas knew that once he became a Rym Producer, the Light of Enlightenment would hit him. Every time a Rym Producer was born, they experienced a moment of enlightenment, in which they gained access to all knowledge and saw everything. The power of the Light of Enlightenment gives Rym Producers great strength and allows them to become special existences.

The Light of Enlightenment felt like a million beautiful thoughts all came together in perfect harmony with themselves. Rym Producers are special existences, blessed by the heavens with the power of knowledge.

The moment someone creates a product from spiritual and soul power, there's a small chance that they enter enlightenment. The insights of this enlightenment will transfer directly to the product as well. This chance is greater when it's a heaven-defying item, or it's the first time an item was created in its domain, and the quality is superb.

Bas felt complacent as he responded to his mother, "Sorry, Mom. I followed my hunter soul's guidance and accidentally became a Rym Producer."

"My word," Eureka looked faint, but a bright light shone in her eyes. "You have become much more than a mere Rym Producer, Lil' Bazzy.

"Bazzy, you're a Soul Mason! Oh my gosh, my brother's a Soul Mason?" Mirocca was similarly stunned.

"Soul Mason?" Bas was unfamiliar with this term.

"Yes," his mother nodded and became excited. "The Light of Enlightenment that rained down on you has given you tremendous benefits! Ordinary Rym Producers will not be able to compare to you. This light marks the birth of a heaven-chosen Rym Producer, also known as Soul Masons."

Bas nodded as he easily accepted this new terminology. So it turned out that there was now a distinction between those blessed by the light and those not. Was being blessed by the light so rare in this era? If so, he would need to be more careful than originally planned.

How could Bas not be recognized by the divine powers that be? He created a heaven-defying Soul Record, even if it was currently low-level. If anyone could be considered a Soul Mason, it should be himself.

Such a distinction didn't exist before.

How much time had passed exactly?

"Now, quickly tell your mother what rym product you've invented?" Eureka was impatient to see what her son had done.

"I made some improvements to Dad's Hunt Record!" Bas announced confidently.

Eureka was immediately shocked and speechless. Improvements to a bronze class Hunt Record? So, did he invent a silver class Hunt Record?

To become a Soul Mason in one go, how incredible was this product? Bas was only a Fifth Class Hunter. Creating something too amazing wasn't possible, was it?

"Show me," Eureka suddenly grew serious, suspicion growing in her heart.

Bas smiled and stood up from the bed. Naturally, as it was his own Soul Record, he could teach it to whomever he chose. He closed his eyes, gathering his spiritual and soul power. A small book appeared in his hand with a snap of his finger. It was a brown book with intricate golden designs on the cover. They seemed to form a disc-like feature that glowed with tri-colored light.

"This is my Hunt Record, Mother. I call it the Evil Dragon Sovereign Record. It's now a silver class product, and it's by-product a beast record born from my own insights, luckily linked to a unique constellation for further clarity," Bas said with pride, handing the book to his mother.

Eureka took the book, her eyes widening with shock. She flipped through the pages, seeing her son's initial improvements but failing to understand much halfway through. The descriptions of the beasts and their weaknesses were more detailed and accurate than her own or even her husband's records, making it easier for hunters to defeat them. The book's overall layout was improved, making it easier to navigate and understand. Moreover, all the beasts on this record were related to dragons!

Dragon Hunter!

If the by-product was this good, how incredible had the rym record become?

Actually, the current classification of Bas' soul record was only wood class. As a soul record, this was still equivalent in strength to a silver class rym record, and he wasn't sure his mother would know the difference even if he explained it.

"This...this is incredible," Eureka whispered, still in disbelief. "How did you do this, Bas?"

Bas shrugged, feeling unburdened by the secret of his reincarnation. "I just followed my intuition, mother. My past experiences helped me create the perfect evolution of Dad's work."

Outside the gates at Marathon High School...

It had been four days since Bas was suspended, but due to the weekend, only two of those days counted toward his suspension. The waning sun hung in the sky like a giant orange Frisby, slowly drifting through the cosmos.

On the bustling streets outside the school, Simpson and Charles were chatting with Lucara and a group of her friends. After a while, most girls left, leaving only a pretty girl with pigtails and an emo-looking girl with blue hair and a dull face.

"Yesterday it was Fred Saunders, and then Monday it was Theodore Roberts, right?" the cute girl wearing pink shorts with pigtails asked from beside Lucara, "More and more juniors keep disappearing overnight. It's really scary."

"Please, I bet they were up to no good then!" Simpson spoke in disagreement. He wore black clothes and looked fashionable, "How hard is it to escape that no one was able to run away at all? I'm telling you, something doesn't add up about this."

"Simp is right. There's not enough evidence for us to place the blame on anyone," Charles chimed in as he walked ahead of the group.

Lucara glanced at him while seductively biting her lip and winking. Charles' mind short-circuited, and the blood rushed to his lower body. He had no idea that a sixteen-year-old girl could be so daring.

Lucara wore an elegant red dress that laced up the front. The back plunged to her waist, and the skirt split like a waterfall. She was as radiant as an angel with flawless skin that glowed even in the shadows of night. Her long hair fell freely down her back, not confined by any covering. Charles gulped nervously and approached her, trying hard not to stare at her bare shoulders or ample cleavage. However, he didn't notice that among those present, only he saw her dressed this way. Everyone else saw her dressed in plain white clothing.

"Well, I say we go investigate. The police can't find the culprits, so it's obviously up to us to find our friends!" Lucara said proudly, secretly sneering in her heart.

She would definitely take them to find the culprits, without a doubt.

"This...doesn't sound like such a good idea, right?" said the pigtailed girl, Megan Trushot, one of Lucara's trusted companions. Though she looked ditsy, she was surprisingly responsible in nature. "One boy was found dead, Lucara. We can't play around here."

"I'm going to have to agree with the lovely beauty here." Simpson smiled as he walked forward and placed his arm around Megan's shoulders. Megan's face turned beet red in an instant. A toddler could see that she had amorous feelings towards this simple but large boy. "What do you say, Megan? Let's ditch these losers and head to my dorm..."

"Ah...uhm...oh, oh okay." Megan covered her face to hide her embarrassment but wasn't willing to reject Simpson.

"Tsk, whatever Simpleton. Chucky, you'll come to protect Tina and me, right?" pouted Lucara with puppy dog eyes. Charles melted at the sight of this, puffing out his chest.

"Don't worry, I'll definitely take care of you!" Charles pushed his glasses up his nose and patted his chest aggressively.

"Chuck...sigh, never mind, dude. Let's go, babe." Simpson wanted to warn Charles about letting Lucara push him around but chose to let it go.

Something about this chick made Simpson guarded and uncomfortable. In Simpson's opinion, only a guy like Sebastian, who was equally if not more unfathomable, could handle a chick like Lucara. Charles was doomed to be devastated.

"Yes!" Megan held on to Simpson's arm as she turned back to Lucara and company, "I'll leave first. Call me when you get home, okay bitch?"

"Mhm. Have fun, you little slut. We'll be busy being heroes," Lucara grabbed Charles' arm and pulled him away.

"Later, big bro!" Charles called out to Simpson.

At that moment, Simpson frowned deeply and paused his steps.

"Big brother Simpson, what's wrong?" asked Megan when she saw the gentle giant with a weird face. "Is your tummy hurting?"

"How much do you...really know about Lucara Angels?" Simpson didn't know why, but when he heard Charles' words, he had a horrible premonition.

This feeling was as if he would never hear those two words again.

Why would he feel that way?

"Oh...well...I guess nothing," Megan thought really hard before continuing. "She stays in Zone 3 of the metropolis with her father, but I've never actually seen her father. We've been friends for years, though! She's incredibly smart smarter than anyone I know. I remember the first time she kissed me on the lips, and honestly, it was kind of nice. I once thought..."

Simpson felt a headache coming on as he discovered that he underestimated how hard it was to stop a girl's mouth once it started. Even the usually meek and ditsy Megan was suddenly an entire chatterbox. He lamented that he spoke his thoughts aloud as they walked toward his hoverbike.

Meanwhile, Lucara, Charles, and Tina stuck together. Lucara openly flirted with Charles, who was putty in her hands from the beginning. They traveled through alley after alley in the metropolis. Finally, they gave up after not finding any clues and ventured into Little Kennesaw. By now, the sun had already completely hidden behind the curtain of nightfall.

"Lucara, my mother will worry if I'm out so late. Maybe we should head back?" asked the dull emo girl, Tina.

Her voice was emotionless and drab. This was Charles' first time hearing it. It gave him the creeps.

"Yes, your mother is very strict," Lucara nodded her head with understanding, barely looking inconvenienced. "Well, go ahead, Tina. I'll let Chucky walk this little Luca home."

"Okay. You two be careful."

Charles turned around to say, 'You too,' but Tina was somehow already gone. This baffled Charles, but he didn't have time to think before catching a near whiff of his favored scent for the last three years.

"So Chucky..." Lucara reached her slender arm around Charles' shoulder from the back to caress his chest as she slowly sashayed to his front. Charles swallowed a mouthful of saliva, and Lucara continued, "All alone, late this evening with the boy I like...whatever shall we do?"

Lucara whispered the last of her words into Charles' ears, but he felt his soul stir. Charles had pretty much become a soft noodle in front of this crafty woman.

"I...uh...we...er. You smell...nice...um." Charles stammered out incoherently.

Smooth, Charles. Smooth.

"What's wrong, big boy? Don't you like girls?" Lucara said, resting her head on Charles' chest.

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

Swoosh!

"Who are you!" Lucara screamed as three shadow ninjas appeared and surrounded the two students.

The black figures didn't respond. They said nothing and just attacked! The first shadow ninja power punched Lucara in the gut, rendering her unconscious instantly, as the ninja grabbed her and escaped into another shadow.

"Lucara! Ugh!" Charles suffered a kick to the abdomen, followed by the temple from the two remaining shadow ninjas before they vanished into shadows. Charles coughed up a mouthful of blood before pulling out his mobile phone and calling for law enforcement. "Yes, my name is Charles Stracks. My father is the CEO of Stracks Technology, Landon Stracks. I'm in Zone 2 currently, and we've been attacked. My classmate, Lucara Angels, was abducted. Which way did they go? I'll go find out right away!

"*Cough* *cough* Fuck... LUCARA!" Charles continued to cough out blood as he hobbled down the alleyway in search of his friend. He was delirious and running a fever, but he refused to give up. She had to be close by still. She just had to be! She would hear his voice and scream, and then Charles could call to tell the police where she was located.

At least, that's how things worked in his heart. The reality was far crueler.
