Blood rushed down her face. Another slap slammed into her, pain pushed her to the floor, the scent of the hay next to her being the only thing keeping her conscious.
"Get up!" A woman hissed. The hostage's step mother, memories pulsed through Ada, worsening the pain that threw her down. Her eyes took to the long discarded glass bottle caught in the the rays of the sun that filtered through the tiny window.
"Did you think you could get away with the prince?"
"At least the man had some sense to take heed to my threat." Cinderella's stepmother had threatened the king's life, successfully taking out the chief advisor not long before by using the fairy godmother's wand. The mouldy floors grappled on her fresh wound, making it difficult for her to move. She grabbed onto the bottle. She rolled to the corner, ripping herself from the floor.
She hulled back at the woman, raising the bottle over her head. It shattered, pints of glass breaking in its millions. Her stepmother fell unconscious, her body slumping against the floor. Her stomach rumbled as she ran out.
She emerged from the door, running as her hair whipped behind her. Not long after the kingdom began to modernize, a drought hit, rendering the soil infertile. The only crops grown were under artificial conditions, only accessed by the supreme leader, servants of the house and the royals while the rest of the population died.
The barren lands filled her vision, the red soil marred by rocks, rubble and ashes. Tiredness washed over her but she knew she needed cover. She diverted off the main path, jumping through a large rows of skeletal trees, her body jerking to the sides due to the tree branches.
The paths sloped down to a cave, grey washed walls dulling the environment even more. She walked through the cave, the lights from the torches glared at her. At the middle, sat a table surrounded by stools, all of which were made of wood. Voices filled the atmosphere, emotions of sadness circling through.
"Cinderella!" Aurora yelled, her mouth wide as she rushed to her. The others turned, their faces now a shadow to their former happy selves, each of them experiencing a dark twist in their story lines. The blonde haired woman hugged her tightly. Her gaze ran through the sombre setting, taking in the turmolous scent of rotten fruit and blood. Her stomach clenched.
Ada's eyes caught onto the figure wrapped in bandages. She lay on a hammock, unconscious, dark hair covered her pale face. Her signature blue-yellow gown was ripped beyond comprehension, different parts of her bodies coated with massive wounds. Snow White.
"The dirty pedophile almost raped her to death. Good thing I was passing through." Mulan spat, her dark hair falling over her lean shoulders.
"But there is a likelihood that she would die if we don't get food by nightfall." Tiana voiced, dragging herself to the table.
"I say we storm one of them storage houses!" Merida called, raising her wooden mug.
"But how? We're down one princess since Elsa was killed. And if they find us, the guards won't hesitate to kill us on the spot." Rapunzel added. Aurora released her, going back before the princesses began to argue strategy.
"At dawn, we will bring back food even if it kills us!" Ada backed away at that fact.
"For Snow White!" They all seconded.
**
Mulan embedded a sword into a guard, blood covered the metal. The man screamed. Aurora gagged him with a sack cloth, clothed in dark fabrics. She dropped him. They rushed forward, creeping past halls with high vaulted ceilings.
The white washed walls were lined with steel. Chandeliers and electric bulbs replaced the torches. A door stood tall, dark against the light of the white bulbs. Pocahontas hummed lowly, skipping into a run. She thrusted her spear into the door. It stuck to it, a laser sweeping from the sides, cutting of the wood from the metal head.
Alarms blared, computerized voices echoed. Ada's blood ran cold as the princesses huddled together, guards circled them, weapons of all sorts in gloved hands.
"All you have brought is dishonor to the guards of the past." Mulan screamed, unsheathing her sword. The guards laughed, the huddle of princesses tightened, each holding a weapon.
"The only thing I'm bringing is a group of dead delusional women." The guards closed in on them, their fingers hovering over the triggers. The alarms continued to blare above them, the lights shuddering in different colors. The pictures of the horrors behind the isle of the lost flashed to mind, cold fear drenched her whole. This could not be the end.
"Stop!" A man called, he was dressed in a purple cloak that billowed behind him. The pedophile that had almost killed Snow White. Supreme leader Philip. The conscious still slept but each memory of him coursed with anger.
"I offer you princesses a chance, if you can tell me where my precious toy is, I'll let you go." He smirked, strands of his brown hair sweeping into his eyes. The others revolted at the idea, disgusted at the notion of what he suggested.
"We'll rather die-"
"She's in a cave in the Outlands." Ada shouted, pushing past Mulan. The others turned, their mouths agape at what they had just heard. Ada walked past them, ignoring the looks that were thrown at her. The supreme leader smirked, his pearly whites glistening. Her stomach curdled with guilt, her blood roaring.
"Cinderella, you were the last person I thought possible. Well, no matter you have proven where your loyalty truly lies. After all, no life is worth more than your own." The supreme leader had led her away while the others were killed. These people were merely a fantasy, guilt sizzled within her.
No life is worth more than my own.
Soon after, her conscious was pulled into another portal.
