"I do not owe any one explanation," Alistair broke the silence. He looked at me and said "return to your quarters now."
I wondered if I was the cause of his troubles. There was a sudden transfer of aggression. I expected it to be from someone else, not me.
I did not argue with them. I bowed and turned to leave when grandmother stopped me.
"Don't go anywhere, princess," She said. Well, I didn't like the old woman but she sounded like she was on my side.
I looked at Alistair. He arched his left brow and faced the wall. I knew he did not want me to stay, regardless of what grandmother said.
"Forgive me, granny," I curtsied with my eyes on the floor. "I prefer to do as the king says."
Grandmother was surprised by my words. She was not expecting it. I did not want to disrespect the king's command. Not only that, he was my husband to be. If I showed the world that I disrespected him, others would do the same.
