We went down the burnt streets avoiding the market. The soldiers were in the market because most of the people went to sell and buy there. Only the children were left at home. I opened the door of the next house and urged the children to come out.
I was going to take them to a safer place where the fire nor soldiers would not meet them. Liza asked them not to make any noise no matter what happens. They were to remain silent in order not to attract the enemy.
We passed through the broken shops, which got destroyed as a result of the fight. The food items brought to the market in the morning were on the floor. Some were been smashed by us as we walked and passed.
I felt bad that everything my father ever worked for, was down the drain. There was nothing I could do much to save my kingdom.
The soldiers were busy with the adults. Although, that did not stop them from killing innocent children.
"Where will the sun go to bed?" I sighed even though I knew it was not even noon yet.
Liza understood my pain. She knew me better than anyone. Instead of lowering my faith, she lifted me. She was just the right person to be with whenever there was a problem "Do not worry my lady, we will keep the children over there."
I tried to get where she pointed at. The church? I noticed that the soldiers didn't touch any of the temples. Unlike, the other war opponents, they make sure to destroy holy grounds to input theirs.
I urged the children to move in a straight line to avoid getting caught. But before that, I led the way by looking left and right and left again, to make sure that none of the soldiers were around.
I ran into the temple with speed. Looking left and right again, I saw no one. There was no one in the temple. I asked Liza to send the children over and she began.
They marched quickly yet quietly. I was glad that they were beginning to understand that the situation on the ground was not child's play.
They all entered the temple without interruption. I closed the doors and asked them to lock them from inside. The children were warned not to open the door to any stranger.
I promised to check on them from time to time before everything ends.
"Now, what princess?" Liza asked me. She looked tired after the run. I knew I was to be blamed for it. Mother and Father told me not to leave the palace.
I never listen. I wished they understood what I was going through.
I did not like the fact that I was told to do so many things because of some title I never wanted.
Even though I was a princess, I went to war, trained with the boys, and owned a lot of land like a man. In some parts of the world, this will not be allowed.
A woman's duty was to take care of her husband and the household. She was not allowed to participate in politics or war issues and if she was unlucky to come from a royal family, her only duty was to make babies for the crown. She has to secure her position or another woman would.
Eewww… I never imagined myself in that situation someday. I had brothers who would fight for the throne and sit there. Father might want me to marry a respectable man. I wanted someone handsome yet loving, kind, and caring…that has nothing to do with royalty.
"Where are we going, my lady?" Liza interrupted my thoughts. I was lost in it and forgot about the war.
"Huh?" I turned back and saw a few bodies lying on the floor. None of them belonged to the enemy. My heart skipped. Will my family still be alive by now? "We will fight and cool the heat here. Where is my sword?"
"My lady?" Liza had no idea. Maybe I dropped it when taking the children to safety.
We follow the corridor to the side where we normally buy our cupcakes when we escaped from the palace.

The Author's POV.
Two officers stood with their hands behind them while the soldiers kept on searching. They never found whatever they were looking for.
"Go to the palace and get me the princess," The man with blonde hair commanded. His smile could smite anyone. His eyes shone like two blue pools. He could attract anything that stare at him for a second.
"What do you need a princess for, Roland?" The Black-haired man asked out of curiosity. He did not understand why the princess was suddenly important.
"I don't know yet. They said she is a beautiful piece… and has an attitude that is rare among other women," Roland explained with a smile on his lips. He took steps forward to avoid further questions but it did not help.
"Since when did you hear that?" he came closer.
"Please, Percival. Mind your business and concentrate on the war," Roland told him. The princess was very important at the moment. The queen mother needed her to get rid of their biggest enemy back home. But how was she going to do it?
