"...and that's the bell." Kean mumbled to himself as he stood up to pack his backpack.
"Don't forget to finish your assignments the deadline day's on Friday." The teacher concluded the class, with the students leaving the class without bothering to look or listen to him.
" It makes up for a lot of your marks for the semester."
He added when he noticed they weren't listening to him at all. He got a little bit of attention from some, but they continued again like he didn't say anything.
Kean was one of them. ' You just had to say it.' He remarked in his mind as he walked out of the class.
' No sleep for me this night I guess...well that's for the night. Got to get to work before that old man would have something to complain about today.' Kean made his way to his locker.
The hallway was filled with students and teachers making their way to their various destinations while some were chatting with their friends making up for the noise in the hallway.
'...Then I have to get Kira from aunt Sarah's, and I still have to get to Alexi's today too'. Kean got a babysitting job from Alexi a few months back when he was looking for money to buy an elemental core.
Kean is your everyday average Joe, but a poor and a little pretty face average Joe. His parents were from one of the few families that gained the ability to manipulate elements when the world was plunged into chaos that led to a new era on Earth.
But Kean nor any of his sisters knew which family they were from since their parents never told them before they went missing in the war against the awakened beasts a few years ago.
He and his sister, Krista, now have to work and school at the same time so as to feed and cater for their younger sister and themselves, though Krista is out of school now.
As Kean was getting lost in his thoughts, a young and extremely good looking boy, having a nobility aura, a princely charm, dressed in an high class attire with a diamond clothed wristwatch, clearly showing he was from a rich family started searching for Kean.
He was followed by two other young men, who were also good looking though not quite like him, also lacking that noble air around them.
" Hey hey....wait up." One of them called out after recognizing the young man setting out of the class. They looked more like two henchmen than friends to the rich guy.
" Hey hey Kean...wait up." The other boy called. It seems like he did the trick as Kean was pulled out from his thoughts when he heard someone call out his name. ' huh?'
Kean turned to look at who called him.
' Isn't that Carl?'.
Kean was shocked when he recognized the young man seeking out to reach him. The hallway was getting louder and more rowdy after seeing a wealthy and handsome young man in their backwater school.
Kean's thoughts were filled with questions as he began to walk towards Carl, he and Carl were childhood friends, since both parent's held the ability to manipulate elemental energy.
But a few years later they moved to an higher class residential area reserved for those with power and authority. It seems they are connected to a main family.
Carl's parents never liked to allow Carl to be free, or even enjoy a little bit of his childhood, since he was always in training for either combat, energy wielding, history or even politics.
He met Carl when Carl's parents weren't home one day and Carl sneaked out and eventually bumped into Kean who was on his way to the park with his sister, Krista.
They got to know each other, and Carl finally had someone to talk to and play with.
Until his parents found out and banned him from talking with them, but Carl still snuck out at times.
However, suddenly Kean and Krista stopped seeing Carl all together, until Carl's family moved out suddenly.
They hadn't met since then and Carl was always on the TV as he turned out to be one of the Lane's heirs.
The Lane family are one of the five main families in the United States. The whole government body is now shifted, the president now is selected from one of the five main families. There's still democracy but as usual that doesn't really show it's self until it's time for election.
The elected main family would be the ruler of the United States for a tenure of fifty years. It is decided by who the masses voted for, after an event set up by a treaty years ago is done.
It came to existence after the Smith family tried to rule over the United States alone, only to be countered from all sides by the other four families, seeking to also be the ruler of the country. In the end they settled for a competition whereby the winner is mostly selected to be the president.
It is mostly the strongest heir that becomes the president after the event, but not necessarily the strongest they just have to win the event to show they have the most potential to become the strongest person in the country.
It was named the heir wars.
' they don't even wage war on one each other' Kean chuckled as thought the name sounded stupid.
Kean wasn't expecting Carl to be here since he was an heir, he was supposed to be training for the heir wars coming in a few years or something.
" oh my God! He is so handsome."
" Does anyone know who he is; he looks so handsome, he should be from one of the main families."
" Why the f*ck did you hit me!"
" That's young Master Carl you idiot!"
" Ma...master Carl? You mean the one from the Lane family?...like the Carl Lane?"
" Of course Sherlock."
" Why does he look so much handsome in person?!"
" I want to birth your child Master Carl"

The students in the hallway and even teachers alike, mostly the female, where all shocked to see an heir standing right in front of them. The heirs are celebrities. You just don't see your your idol standing in your school suddenly everyday.
Kean in question was still confused as started making his way towards Carl, he didn't know what to say to his old friend. He was suddenly nervous as walked over to him.
Carl was still standing there with an all expressionless face. He continued to stare at Kean as made his way towards him.
" Here he is, Young master Carl!" One of the henchmen almost shouted.
" I can see that, Bernstein." Carl sighed.
" What are you doing here, Carl?" Kean however spoke to Carl like he wasn't happy to see his old friend standing right in front of him.
" Good day Kean, we meet again" Carl slightly nodded before continuing again.
" I came to offer you a job, and it's quite a high paying job, I'm sure it would be to your liking." Carl's face remained expressionless but his tone carried a tinge of happiness in it.
Kean was startled by Carl's tone and his facial expression.
' this isn't the way I remember Carl talking..?'
Kean didn't voice is confusion as just replied with a bland tone.
" What Job offer are we talking about, young master Carl?".
Kean changed the way he addressed carl immediately.
