I sigh heavily before lying down in the teacher's lounge on the red couch, sinking into the soft cushions that sit on top. I didn't feel like looking around anymore, but I at least could use my eyes to look without having to get up!
"I don't like this."
I remarked, staring down at my shoes as I kicked the table in front of the couch.
"Something we both can agree on."
"You you alright? I know with everything that's happening and going on, we don't need to lose another person, I'm sure you can say the same as well."
Carlos responds, searching the cabinets before looking over at me. I nod, agreeing and smiling. Who's gonna be next? I get up and help Carlos search, keeping quiet for now, I don't have the energy to do all of this! Why can't we just go home? I just want to wake up and realize that this is all a bad dream- a very bad dream.
As I'm searching the cabinets in the kitchen, I hear Carlos muttering something under his breath which I couldn't quite understand. I shoot up as I hear the door swing open and see Daniel standing there, his face drenched in a red liquid- which I pray isn't blood, and his eyes wide open as If he drank a whole gallon of coffee!
"Daniel? What happened?!"
I ask, getting off the couch and hearing it air out.
"Man! There was- The teacher-"
Before he could finish speaking he broke out into tears, choking on his own breath trying to speak, standing there as he cried uncontrollably. Carlos crouches down and tries to help comfort Daniel before he jolts as a loud bang is heard from downstairs. I look over at Carlos, questioning if we go down to investigate.
"I'm going down. Vi, you stay up here with Daniel, don't let him go crazy and basically send an amber alert to zombies in the area."
He said, picking up a kitchen knife from the counter and cautiously moving down the hall and to the stairs. I twist around to Daniel and drag him over to the couch, seating him on the comfy red cushions.
"Stay here, and don't run! You don't want a zombie to bite you?... Do you?!"
I say, snapping my jaw like a dog jokingly to give Daniel a scare.. He grabbed a pillow and threw it at me as if defending himself if his life depended on it. I roll my eyes and throw the pillow back at him.
"I won't be long!"
I quietly announce before exiting the teacher's lounge and creeping down the hallway, making my way to the staircase to see what Carlos is doing.
I peer down and see Carlos standing to the side, another person there but I could just barely see them, only their lower body visible because of the part above the stairs which cut off my view. Maybe this person was nice, after all, I don't hear Carlos screaming like the baby he is!
I take a few more steps down the stairs, being as quiet as I can, but when I stepped on one it lets out a loud screechy creak. I felt my heart sink but quickly return to normal as I see Carlos wave his hand at me as if signaling me to come over, dismissing the fact that I just disobeyed his say. Glad he didn't try to give me a whole lecture for trying to 'spy' on him.
I nod and quickly walk down the last few stairs, jumping off the last two. I run over to Carlos and look up at who Carlos was seemingly talking to, analyzing him. He had a black hat on, white hair with a tinge of red at the back, grey eyes, a black jumper, and purple-ish pants. He had some really cool boots on, I think my Dad has a pair of them for work!
"Who are you?"
I ask, standing behind Carlos.
"Well, my name is Hunter, what about you young lady?"
He answers, asking me a question in return. I look up at Carlos before back to him, uncertain if he can be trusted. There is blood on his hands, literally.
"My name is Violet."
I say, looking away from him. I could smell something off, like a dead skunk! Suddenly, the door to our left is visibly being pounded by the other side, as if someone were trying to break in, or perhaps break out...
In front of the door was a fallen bookshelf which I could make a good guess that Hunter had knocked down, that must've been the loud bang, but it didn't seem to be doing much as the banging continued and the bookshelf inching away from the door with each bang, creating a gap.
Carlos and Hunter rush over, pushing it back, but the banging isn't stopping. I look around for anything that could help stop the banging when it all of a sudden just stops. I slowly turn back around and see Carlos and Hunter back away from the door, giving each other a quick glance.
"Hunter, what's in-"
Before Carlos could finish speaking the glass on the door exploded as a head knocked through it. I let out a shriek as I quickly backed away into the wall. The zombie grabs Carlos's arm but let's go as Hunter grabs his bat and slams it down on their arm, that would've hurt! That's when I realized, that wasn't any zombie, it was our teacher, Mrs Carmen!
