"I don't get that." Rowan moved away from Duke to sink against the couch behind him. He crossed his arms before him as if it could help him get up later. "He does act like he wants me to return to his side… but has he forgotten how he tried to strangle me that night? Erm, strangling me seems too shallow for my painting. I need something stronger."
"Baby, sometimes, people only realize something's value when it is already gone. He must have seen how awful his life was without you." Duke leaned back as well, joining Rowan in sinking. "Judging from his actions, he believes you still belong to him. It doesn't matter what we showed him. His eyes can only see the fact that stood for years. You're his property as he is your master."
