The only thing princess Lily heard when she woke up was the hoot of an owl . She did not need anyone to tell her that it was late at night. She looked around the room, it was decorated lavishly.

Her stomach made such a loud noise that it made her afraid. That's right, she had not eaten dinner. Where could she find food at such a late hour? . She dragged her feet down only to see that she was in her petticoat.
' The maids must have helped me ' she thought . Her eyes scanned the room one last time only to find something shiny at the far end of the room. She walked closer, uncovered the first plate.
" Food!! " she exclaimed . Her eyes sparkled at the sight. She proceeded to open the rest and she was still greeted with the same sight " Amazing, they know what I would need " and she dug in without any restrictions. The food was cold, but she did not mind it, all she knew was that she was filling her stomach.
As she ate, she thought of what people would think of her. Surely, they must hate her now. What kind of a bride faints on her wedding day? It was just impossible. If her father heard the news, she knew he would waste no time to come to Ashty and give her an earful . But then again , it wasn't her fault. It was his for marrying her off to a stranger.
" Tomorrow would take care of itself " she muttered.
But tomorrow came with its own problems for she was summoned by the king so early in the morning.
" Your highness, I'm sure this dress would suit you best " the maid said smiling . The dress was blue in colour, it had golden embroidery around the hem of the dress and the chest region. The dress was beautiful, Ashty sure did have a lot of gold .
" Good. " princess Lily responded
After she had slipped into the dress, the maid styled her hair elegantly, she was looking so beautiful and classy.
" Where is the king? "
" He is in the courtroom, your highness "
" What is your name? " princess Lily asked. The maid turned around, her eyes flung open as it was not normal for someone of royal blood to ask for a mere servant's name.
" My name is Agnes your highness "
" Agnes " princess Lily repeated " Lead the way "
After a lot of twist and turns, they arrived at the courtroom. Princess Lily took in a deep breath , she was shaking like a leaf. This was no ordinary person , it was the King!
She took a deep breath and walked inside the room .
Lord have mercy! , the courtroom was big and well decorated . There were two big statues of a lion at the sides of the room. Everything in the room screamed elegance .
The king sat on his throne, two men were at his side, one sitting on a wheelchair and the other standing with a grim look in his face.
' What ? ' Lily questioned inwardly. She knew the king of Ashty had three sons but she never knew he had a son who was lame in both feet.
" Your majesty " princess Lily greeted
" Princess Lily of caebrth , you pulled quite an unusual stunt yesterday. Who would have thought or imagined that a bride would faint on her wedding day? "
At this statement, Lily put her head down in shame.
" No need to be ashamed " the king smiled " I've got a special test for you. Among these fine men, who is your husband? "
