I jump up from the couch and look over at Mum with puppy eyes, the kitchen light reflecting in my eyes, really giving the puppy eyes its effect as I rest my head along the edges of the couch.
"Mum, can we please go to Kiddie City?" I begged, pointing at the TV.
"Not right now hunny, Mummy is busy, go ask your Dad."
I groan in annoyance, she's always busy! 'I'm doing dishes,' 'I'm cleaning the whole house,' Why can't Mum just come for once and have fun like how she used to? I throw myself off the couch and begin walking up the stairs, careful not to miss a step, like Mum always says 'Don't run up or down the stairs!' I got places to be!
"Dad, can we please go to Kiddie City?" I asked.
"What's that place about? Never heard of it before."
"Come look on the TV, Dad!" I dragged Dad to the TV and showed him the ad for Kiddie City. Surprisingly, he agreed to go there, glad he didn't have 'work' to do.
"Did you wanna come along, I might just win you a prize," Dad says to Mum, smiling as he speaks to her.
"No, you two go along, I need to stay back and finish making dinner. If you will even have any after." Mum said, shaking her head slightly as she leaned against the kitchen counter.
I shrug my shoulders and put on my sneakers, leaning against the wall for balance before I go outside and wait outside beside the car, looking at myself in the window reflection, brushing my hair back and dusting off my jumper.
I jolt up as I hear the front door slam shut, however, my Dad still has a bright smile on his face as he walks towards me. I smile back and open the door, getting in the car and seating myself in the middle seat, putting my seatbelt on as Dad gets in the front and turns the car on.
When we arrive there it's almost already full, cars driving in and out nonstop. Hopefully, we'll be lucky enough to even get a car spot! After what felt like forever, we manage to get a car spot next to the exit. We exit the car and carefully make our way through the car park, avoiding other people and cars while doing our best not to get separated from the tsunami of people headed for the entrance.
I push my way through and make it inside, Dad right behind me as we both walk to the front, waiting in line to get our verification thing, whatever that says on the big screen. We make our way to the front and Dad gets two tickets, but instead of some paper note, they put a wristband around our arms, it looked so cool, having a satisfying rainbow gradient to it and the logo and perfect writing with a thin white outline, I could just eat it!
We make our way down a staircase, the inside being a neon rainbow wall/roof that led down to the main part, I felt as if I were walking through the gates of heaven. Getting to the last few steps, I could see the main part now, and it looked like something from my dreams!
At the end there was a large stage with cool lights, and lots of tables and chairs around, maybe there will be an awesome performance, hopefully as cool as this place looks! I walk around with Dad and notice that the wristband is glowing as if it weren't cool enough already, but glow-in-the-dark wristbands, now thats another level!
There were multiple shops, mainly food though, making the place look like some sort of mall! Banjo's Ice Cream, Coffee, Spooder Noodles, a gift shop, bathrooms, and another one that I couldn't read from here.
"Can we go over there?" I ask Dad, pointing to the right side where there was a large entry with a sign above saying 'Games.'
"Yeah, why not? Maybe they have something you'll like there." He answers.
As we're walking, a guy with tons of balloons walks past with a sign wrapped around his chest reading '$1 Per Balloon!' maybe if he is still there later I could get one if- there even are any balloons left. They seem to also have some sort of drawing or word on some of them, but I couldn't tell exactly what it was as we moved out of view.
Me and Dad enter the area and see multiple large doorways leading to different rooms for each game.
"Let's go into... Huh-- Hide and Seek with the name Sparky behind it. Talk about creative." I say, looking up at the sign with a silly cutout of what looks to be an oddly colored dog with an extra set of ears, but it looked cartoony, being blue and having bright yellow eyes, and some sort of fluffy thing around its neck that clowns wear!
We enter and it seems there's a bit of a line, but it's not as bad as I thought. We get in line and after a few minutes of watching what's happening in the other room through the screens above, it's finally our turn! Before we enter Dad pays and we both scan our wristbands, a section of it being the barcode- So that's what those squiggles were, smart! The lady at the front then handed us some sort of sticker with a number on it which labeled what order we were in and how many players were in. I got number 12, and my dad got 10! On the sticker was a shiny blue part and It felt nice to pick at, but we weren't aloud to which I just found out about from that screechy voice of the front lady.
We enter the area with another group of people and the room lights dim. It looks so big and the roof is so high I don't think a bird will be able to fly up to it! I look around and see people begin to run, mostly kids are here, making my dad almost one of the only parents here except for two others who decided to join.
My attention turns up to a clock on the wall, it almost looks like my parent's alarm clock but 15x bigger! A timer counts down from 30 and my best guess is that that is how much time we have to hide so I take off, my Dad following behind, but slow because he's, you know, Dad.
"Go, get in!" I said, pointing at a small hole in the wall which seemed it could only fit a kid, but Dad didn't question and managed to get in, but looked a bit squashed. I covered the hole with some prop planks I found on the ground and I hid myself in a locker nearby, the counter reaching 0 as I shut the door.
