Ken, Kieth and Charlotte were shocked at Zane's action, they all knew that Zane worked for David and his group. If that was true then why did they all feel killing intent when he dashed towards them just now?.
Zane's single step propelled him forward and while in the air he extended his hand and his bow appeared in one hand with an arrow in the other.
In the span of half a second, Zane had pulled back the string and sent the arrow flying with a bee line for Chris' forehead.
SHING!
A wind blade appeared out of nowhere and cut the arrow in half.
A second later, before Zane could even realize what had happened to his arrow, Clara appeared in front of him and sent a kick covered in flames towards his head. She was obviously going for the kill.
Reacting quickly, Zane parried the kick with the bow, suffering some minor burns in the process.
As soon as the kick was successfully parried, Zane sent a kick of his own. Clara was too shocked at Zane's reaction speed and was slammed into the ground.
Zane also landed at the same time but an earth pillar appeared below him and sent him back into the air after breaking a few bones in his legs.
While Zane was still reeling from the sudden earth attack. A flame ball appeared in front of him and exploded soon after.
The explosion sent Zane flying back to Kieth and Ken, who jumped up and caught him.
"Thanks" Zane said as he stood up and healed the burns and his broken bones.
Silence descended upon the area as David's team stared at Zane with animosity and surprise. Zane, just like Kieth and the others were confused.
Before, Zane could ask why David and the others were attacking him, Adam shouted..
"You know, we didn't believe what Chris told us before, but we do now"
"What are you talking about?" Zane asked.
"Why else would you attack Chris with the intent to kill?, it's because you know he told us the truth about you." Clara said, clutching her arm which was bruised from Zane's kick.
"I was going to tell you guys later, i didn't trust you enough yet" Zane explained.
"You really expect us to believe that?, wouldn't telling us the truth derail your whole plan?" David asked.
"What plan are you talking about!?" Zane shouted "Whatever Chris told you it's all lies" he said.
"Really!?, do you or do you not have a separate space excluding your ring?" Adam asked.
"N...Well yes i do but...."
"We trusted you Zane, I thought you were one of the good ones" Clara shouted, her anger was clear for all to see.
"The only thing I did was keep a few secrets!, everyone has them" Zane defended.
"We aren't fools Zane. Okay let's ask one of your friends." David pointed at Kieth "Is Zane really blind?" he asked.
'Shit!' Zane thought.
"No he isn't blind but---"
"See!, you told us you were blind, you said you can see mana and we actually believed you!." David shouted.
Zane sighed, he couldn't really blame Kieth because he only said what he knew. This was all just a big misunderstanding but Zane knew it was going to be almost impossible to straighten everything out.
"I am not going to convince you nor am I going to explain myself, so if you're going to believe Chris' words then, fuck you." Zane snapped back.
"And weren't you the one who told me i must be ready to do anything I can for power?" he continued looking at David.

This was the moment when two guards appeared, a civilian had reported seeing spells being cast in the city and he had alerted the guards.
"Huh, this is....new" one of the guards said.
"Mmm, I've never seen mortals going against mages before what do we do?" The other nodded before asking.
"Let's just watch and see what will happen next, those guys can't be stupid enough to actually engage in battle" the guard glanced at Zane and the others.

"Yes I said that but i didn't mean you should betray your team. Oh wait we were never your team anyway" David said.
"I'm done trying to convince you" Zane said.
"Then we have nothing else to talk about" Earth started to gather above David's head. He didn't want to kill Zane but he couldn't let someone who conspired against his team go free.
Zane narrowed his eyes when he saw Ken stand beside him, followed by Kieth then Charlotte. He was really surprised to see them prepared to fight with him, theirs was obviously a losing battle but they were still ready to die with him.
'Would David and the others have done the same?' he thought.

Zane thought of everything he could do so he and the others could survive, however there was nothing they could do against the strongest team in Willow.
If there is one thing Zane was sure of, it's that in this world, almost every fight was a fight to the death and he couldn't see David being killed by a bunch of mortals. Even if David was alone he would easily wipe the floor with them, elite or not.
To make matters worse, the guards wouldn't do anything because Mages slaughtering a group of mortals wasn't exactly against the rules. And anyway the two guards standing by the side wouldn't be able to stop David.
'Wait, guards!!' Zane suddenly had a lightbulb moment as he recalled overhearing the conversation between the two guards.
"Roger!" Zane suddenly called out. David was about to attack when he heard Zane's call. Just like everyone else, he was also wondering 'who the fuck is Roger?'.
"How do you know my name?" one of the guards said, shocked by how this mortal knew him.
"You once said if i ever needed any help I should call for you, well I need help" Zane said.
Yes, Roger is the same guard who arrived at the scene after Zane killed those bandits Led by Tyrone, Peter's younger brother. Who are both dead by the way.
"Ohh right it's you!, I remember now. I'm sorry though i can't help you" Roger said.
"Why not?" Zane asked even though he knew the reason.
"I don't know if you realize, but you are enemies with David even if we help, you don't stand a chance so I'm not gonna risk my life" Roger shrugged.
"So you're just gonna watch us die?" Zane asked, desperation clear in his voice. It must be noted that David and his team were still standing there. Zane's predicament seemed to amuse them. Chris was even munching on something Zane guessed was popcorn.
"No of course we aren't gonna watch you die." Roger said and Zane heaved a sigh. Maybe Roger will call for help.
"Why would we watch you die when we have better things to do, see ya!" Roger and his friend turned around and began walking away. Roger even had the audacity to whistle!, Zane was dumbfounded.
'Stupid guards!' he thought. This reminded him of his first incident with guards, outside the wall when he was being chased by a certain former merchant turned backstabber and his friends.
"That was a nice show Zane, now were where we?, oh right" David raised his hand and Zane watched in horror as an earth pillar, two flame balls, and a dozen wind blades flew towards them.
On instinct, he stood in front of Charlotte and spread his arms before tensing his muscles and moving all his mana to his skin, trying to make it tougher.
