Chapter 63 - Chapter 63 -- Stop guessing, let's go

KNOCK!

KNOCK!

Somewhere in Willow City, a man was knocking on the door of a very lavish mansion. The closer one gets to the center of the city, the more sophisticated the houses become.

At the very center of the city was the Willow mansion, were the Willow family resides. The Willow family, as the strongest family in Willow city also have subsidiary nobles under them.

These nobles all have some ties to the Willow family in some way. Either an illegitimate child started his own family or a girl falls in love with a commoner, giving that commoner the right to start a subsidiary noble family under the Willow family.

This man was knocking at the mansion of one of these subsidiary families.

"May I help you?" a middle aged man opened the door. He was dressed in tight metal armor almost similar to the guards of the city.

"Hello sir i am here to see the master" the man said respectfully.

"What is this about?" the head guard said, it seemed he held some authority in the family.

"It would be best if i told the master directly" the man said with a slight bow. He was doing his best to be respectful at this moment.

"Not possible, either you tell me or you leave" the head guard said, not forgetting to release a part of his rank 7 aura. He knew the man before him was only rank three.

The man gritted his teeth in anger, however he couldn't do anything. Even if he was somehow stronger than the head guard he wouldn't escape the mansion compound alive.

The only reason the man wanted to talk to the master personally was to gain favor with him. He had been working for this family for 10 years but the head guard acts like he doesn't even know him.

"Peter is dead and i know who killed him" the man revealed. This man was the same one seen in the alley talking to the man who was watching Candy and her mother the day before.

"What!?. Who killed my nephew!?" the head guard was livid. He had just managed to make the master personally tutor his nephew, then someone kills him just like that!?.

The man was surprised that Peter was the head guard's nephew. He knew that Peter was close to this family, but not that close!.

"It was David" the man said.

The head guard's brown furrowed "Ohh really, well that's troublesome. If only the master was around this would be easier" he mumbled.

It is to be noted that everyone, except for the high ranking subsidiary families knew David. His team's strength wasn't something to laugh at.

"Wait, master isn't around?" the man inquired.

"Yes he went on a trip just last week, anyway thank you for the information" The head guard was about to close the door.

"Can you please tell me what your plan is?" The man begged.

"I can't act without master's approval so I will wait for him. He will be back in two months time" the head guard replied before closing the door.

The man sighed as he turned around and left "I guess David and his team get to live for two more months" he mumbled.

Elsewhere.....

"You called for me teacher?" a young man said as he entered the teacher's room.

"Yes I did, where is Zane?, I thought I gave you an assignment" the teacher said, not impressed.

"He didn't show up teacher, I guess he refused my offer" the man replied with his gaze lowered.

"You shouldn't have offered" the teacher said.

"I can forcefully bring him here teacher" The man suggested. He was really ashamed of not being able to convince Zane to meet with their teacher.

"No, you have already failed, leave me" the teacher waved the young man out.

"There you go!" David threw a bag of gold at Zane, which Chris obviously caught.

Zane was hopeful that he might also get a mana core this time. However he knew the chances of that were very low.

Unlike last time, he hadn't killed any beast. No one had even gotten hurt, in other words he didn't do anything at all, but he still got paid.

"Thanks" Zane said as Chris put the coins in his storage ring.

This time the group didn't stay to chat and everyone just left. The sun was still up though so Zane didn't feel like going home.

"Hey Chris wanna try the arena again?" he said. Knowing that Chris obviously wouldn't deny.

"Sure" Chris said, and they left the tavern heading towards the battle arena.

"Hey guys!"

Zane and Chris turned around to see John.

"Hey what's up?" Chris said. He, just like Zane was quite surprised that John waited until everyone left before talking to them.

"Zane I would like to talk to you, alone" John said.

"Why alone?" Chris complained, he immediately didn't like the idea.

"It's fine Chris go to the arena i will meet you at home" Zane said. Even though he didn't know John for that long, he felt he could trust him.

If he couldn't at least trust his team to some extent, he couldn't trust anyone else since he hasn't even lived in Willow for a month.

Chris reluctantly agreed and walked alone to the arena while Zane and John walked back to the tavern. They then sat down at their table.

Zane noticed that the table they sat at was always empty. Even if the tavern was packed with people, some were even crowded on one table.

It was like this table was reserved for David's people. Zane shrugged that thought off though since he was also part of David's people, so that arrangement benefited him.

"Zane the reason I called you here is your mana" Chris said.

Zane immediately got a bad feeling about where their conversation was headed. He remembered seeing John stare at him after he threw the mana bomb back at the battlefield.

"What do you mean?" Zane asked.

"Well.... how can I put this?"John mumbled as he combed through his beard. Zane just waited patiently for John to continue, while at the same time planning on how he would flee from the city if things don't go well.

"There is a certain training style which is perfect for someone like you" John said. This statement caught Zane's attention. Raising one's power was always a good thing.

"What do you mean someone like me" He asked.

"Someone who can use healing mana, that's why I asked you if you could easily heal yourself back then" John explained.

Zane narrowed his eyes "You mean fighting recklessly and then healing straight after?"

"You are smart, I give you that, But no that is not what I mean. That method won't work if your opponent kills you before you can heal" John said.

Zane nodded, he had also once thought of fighting recklessly but that problem made him forget the idea.

"So if it's not that then what is it?" he asked.

"I can't tell you since I'm not the one who is going to teach you" John revealed.

"Ohh?. Who's gonna teach me then?" Zane was slightly surprised that it won't be John teaching him this training style.

"I will take you to the one who taught me" John replied.

"Ohh so this training style has something to do with infusing mana into your muscles huh?." Zane scratched his chin.

"You are too clever Zane, it's actually really annoying" Chris complained.

"It's a good thing you are still wrong though, and please don't try to guess any more and let's just go meet my master" John said.
