Zane had just absorbed the five mana cores he got from Chris. Once again, he was supposed to get skills but Aurora blocked them.
Zane was starting to believe that there actually never were any skills and that Aurora is doing that only to annoy him. Zane put that thought at the back of his head as it was useless to think about it.
After waking up a reluctant Chris, the duo walked towards their usual meeting spot before missions.

At a random house in Willow city.
"Bye mother, I'm leaving now!" a girl shouted up the stairs of their two story house.
"Hold it right there missy!" A voice shouted from upstairs before the sound of someone running down the stairs was heard.
"Where do you think you are going ?" Asked the girl's mother. The relationship between these two people may be mother and daughter, but because both of them where mages, they looked like sister's instead.
"I told you yesterday mother, we have a mission today!" the girl complained, she was really in a hurry but apparently her mother had other ideas.
"I thought you said your group was wiped out yesterday!?" The mother exclaimed.
"I am going to join David's group" Candy replied.
"David!?, the same man who you said killed Peter?" Candy's mother exclaimed "Those people wanted to kill you!"
"No mother they wouldn't think of hurting me anymore" Candy said.
"Ohh because of 'Adam' is it?"
"Yes mother please let me go. I don't want to be late!" Candy begged.
"We need to have a talk when you get back" The mother said.
"Okay mother goodbye!" Candy literally ran out of the house, and headed to where Adam told her to meet them.
Unbeknownst to the mother and daughter duo, someone was listening to their conversation through an open window. The unknown person then disappeared when Candy left.

At the Hunter Guild.
KNOCK!
KNOCK!
"Enter!"
"David!, that was quick, I thought those apes would at least take two days to take care of." The guild Captain was quite surprised to see David back so soon.
"Actually guild master we didn't make it to our mission location, we were attacked just as we left the City" David explained.
"Really!, did you lose anyone?" the guild captain asked.
"No sir, but we would have if we didn't have John" David answered 'and Zane' he thought the last part.
"That's good, did you eliminate the other group?" the guild captain asked. Replacing a hunter group was annoying but not hard.
"Yes sir we killed them all except for one" David replied.
"Ok who's team was it" The guild captain was curious as to which group had the balls to actually attack David.
'The only group which could contend with David's group is...no it can't be!' The guild captain started to panic.
"It was Peter" David said.
"Fuck!" the guild captain exclaimed and stood up before going to the large window behind his chair, looking out to the city.
"Sir--"
"Did you tell anyone about this?" the guild captain unterrupted David. His voice had become grave.
"No sir no one knows except for my team and the remaining member of Peter's team. Even the guards on the wall closest to where it happened don't know anything" David answered.
He was curious as to why the guild Captain was worried, he just killed a hunter group outside the City after all. It wasn't a big deal.
"Who is this surviving mage from Peter's team?, you what it doesn't matter. Will you see him or her again?" the guild captain turned around.
"Yes I'm sure i will see her again. In fact, i think she will want to join my group, she has apparently fallen in love with one of my members"
The guild captain released a sigh of relief "Good, keep her close and make sure she doesn't tell anyone that you were the one who killed Peter, is that clear!" guild captain ordered.
"Yes sir, Can I ask why though?" David nodded before asking.
Guild captain sighed "You are the best team leader we have David, I don't want to lose you or your team."
David was now even more confused, how would the guild lose them?. They were the strongest mages in the city and they wouldn't take on a mission above their grade anyway, so what would kill them?"
"Sir I am confused--"
"Go take care of those apes David. Dismissed" the guild captain waved his hand as he sat back down.
David could only release a breath and a 'yes sir' as he left the guild headquarters.

In a dark alley somewhere in Willow.
"Talk to me"
"It was David"
"Are you sure?"
"Positive"
"Good, nice work"
"Thank you boss"

At the team's mission briefing room, Zane and Chris had arrived the same time as Clara. When they entered the room, John was sitting at a corner of the room meditating while David was absentmindedly staring out the window.
"Hey David you okay?" Clara said. That was David's mission mode face and they weren't on the mission yet.
"..."
"David!" Clara shouted.
David slowly turned around to face Clara. "Hey Clara how you doin?" he said. His mind was definitely not in the same place as his body.
SLAP!
"Oww what the hell was that for!?" David shouted as he rubbed his cheek, which was recently slapped by Clara.
"Where's your head?" Clara said.
"Sorry it's nothing, I was just preoccupied with something" David said. He was back to his normal self. That wasn't surprising, Clara's slap might even make Chris normal.
Clara narrowed her eyes "If you say so".
"Yes trust me, everything is fine" David smiled. 'No everything is not fine!, killing Peter might have been a big mistake which might get us all killed!' he thought.
He knew that whatever was worrying the guild captain had something to do with Peter and it must be serious. The guild captain never panics. He once casually drank tea in his office while the city was under attack by a horde of beasts.
"Hey where is your brother?" David noticed that Adam wasn't with Clara.
"He said he had something to take care of and he would meet me here" Clara said, obviously annoyed by something.
Just then, the door opened and Adam walked in, of course with a certain pink haired lady in tow.
"Morning guys!" Adam greeted. Everyone was slightly surprised to see Candy back again. They didn't think they would see her again, at least not this soon.
Clara on the other hand was annoyed, she felt like she was losing her brother. Adam has had a lot of girlfriends before but this one felt different. 'I need to have a talk with her' she thought.
David was relieved to see Candy, now he only had to convince her to join their team, then make sure she stays quiet about the Peter situation.
"Umm David...i have a request" Adam said.
"What is it?"
"Can Candy join us?, I know that------"
"Sure she can join" David cut off Adam. Everyone was visibly shocked. Not by that David agreed for Candy to join, but at how fast he agreed. It was like he also wanted her to join.
"Aren't you gonna ask about her share of the pay, and stuff like that?" Adam said. He was happy Candy could join, but the way David accepted her was suspicious to say the least.
"Okay the truth is that when i made my report to the guild captain. I mentioned that we didn't kill Candy and he immediately told me to recruit her. The reason being our group is too small anyway and he didn't want Candy to give up being a hunter" David said, and most of what he said was actually the truth.
"Ohhh that's good then" Adam said.
"Welcome to team David, Candy" David said.
"Thank you." Candy smiled.
David nodded "Now what do you all say we go kick some monkey ass!"
