Zane listened to the same sound he has been hearing for quite some time now. He guessed that he was currently in his new mother's womb. Zane had regained his consciousness but he didn't know exactly how long he was in the womb for.
He was getting bored of just doing nothing before he thought of what Aurora said.
'She said that my AI is in my mind, and since i can now think, it means my mind must have fully developed. I guess I lose nothing by trying it out'
'Alexis power on' he thought. However several seconds passed and nothing happened. Zane then thought about any other keywords that might activate Alexis.
Since he had time to spare, he tried everything that came to mind and after two weeks of trial and error he finally made some progress.
'System on'
A window suddenly appeared in front of Zane. He would have thought that he was seeing this window with his eyes, however he knew that his eyes had not fully formed so this window must be in his mind.
'Mana system ?' Zane thought 'Mana must be the energy used to create or control magic. So this is a system of that energy?, What does that mean ?' he thought.
Zane was waiting to hear Alexis' voice, but instead he was watching the percentage count of this so called mana system slowly rise. He also had a bad feeling in his underdeveloped stomach that Aurora had cheated him somehow. However he put the matter aside as he thought his AI would come after the system finished loading.
'This may take a while' Zane lamented in boredom.
Zane had learnt how to tell time by listening to his mother's heart. During the day, her heart would be beating normally. During the night it would slow down as she sleeps, except for the few nights where it would speed up again. Zane didn't want to think about what would be happening during those nights.
'Half way there'
According to his calculations, Zane has been conscious for about six months. However he didn't know how the time of this world worked. Maybe in this world one month is a hundred days or maybe just five.
He didn't know how long the women of this planet stayed pregnant. Heck he didn't even know if his mother was human!.
'Almost there'
'Wait that's it ??' Zane was flabbergasted. Now he was sure that he got ripped off by a god. He was expecting to see something spectacular, however it seems like the so called mana system consisted of only three lines!.
Zane decided to go over the system interface line by line, not that it would take him long to finish anyway.
'Okay so my name, that's obvious' he thought 'but aren't my parents going to give me a new name ?. I guess I will find out when I am born.
'Next is my existence realm. My best guess is that it's how powerful I am, though I can't be sure about that.' he theorized.
'If my guess is right then I am 'none' powerful huh.' Zane released a mind chuckle.
'And the last line is mana, which is zero. I guess I don't have any mana at all right now. Makes sense since i am basically not alive yet, or am I ?' he thought before stopping himself from going off topic.
'Aurora said something about skills, I wonder how i---' his thought halted as a new window appeared in his view as soon as he thought of the word 'skills''.
'At least she didn't lie about my skills' Zane released a sigh of relief.
'The first skill named inventory must be the secret dimension Aurora told me about. Which allows me to keep stuff inside. In other words it's just a giant suitcase I don't need to carry.'
'Wait how big is this thing anyway, I refuse to believe it has unlimited storage space. I guess I will find out one day.' Zane then went over to his other skill. This was the skill he was most interested in.
'Mana gathering ?. Mana is energy, so this skill allows me to gather energy ?. Passive means the skill is always on so will I always be gathering energy none stop ?.'
'If that's true then i will be Overpowered in this world. I don't think Aurora would allow for that to happen, it felt like she doesn't like me very much. I need an explanation for this skill ' A new window then appeared as soon as Zane finished that thought.
User can also absorb mana from any living organism without killing the subject. However the subject will lose that same amount of mana forever and it will not regenerate. Mana gained through this method will be drained from the user at 1 mana point per second> Zane read and re-read that passage over a dozen times untill he fully understood it. 'So to cut the long story short, I can get any living being's energy by killing it. Humans have the most energy. I can also steal energy without killing but then that energy will disappear over time if i don't use it.' After fully understanding his mana gathering skill. Zane thought about how the system gave him the explanation for it. He wondered if he maybe could also get information for his inventory skill. 'Let's see if this will work , I need an explanation for the inventory skill' as he thought, a new window appeared. 'I knew it !. I can't believe I almost thought that celestial would give me an unlimited storage. However one meter cubed is not that bad and i will get bigger as I get stronger anyway so overall it's a good skill.' Zane thought. Two months later. It's been two months since Zane finished checking his system and boredom had taken over once more. However today something changed, he started hearing other sounds which weren't his mother. He was hearing voices !. He still couldn't make out what the voices where saying but concentrating on them alleviated his boredom just a little. One more month passed and Zane realized that his 'room' was getting cramped. He involuntarily tried to move a little bit to maybe get into a more comfortable position. However instead of moving, he kinda just slowly did a front flip until he had rotated 180 degrees. His head was now where his legs used to be. Two weeks later. 'Ok this place is now really uncomfortable' Zane complained untill suddenly... "Alright Olivia I'm going to need you to push for me okay ?" 'Wait....'
