"Emily! Emily! " Marie called .
"Wakeup " She added. I forcefully opened my eyes and yawned. "Oh mine , you're a heavy sleeper " She said. "Marie , why wake me up? so early ,it's not morning yet " I uttered .
"Hah , didn't the mistress tell you as a maid we need to be up from bed before sunrise" she replied. "Hmmm, she did mention it yesterday " I remembered.
"Now you need to get up from bed and go wash up " she ordered. "Argh, okay" I mumbled . We went to take our bath and changed into our uniform . "Now follow me " She said taking me into the kitchen . The kitchen was small and had a four cornered table at the center.
Doris and Linda were already there, making breakfast. "Howdy neighbors" Doris greeted . "Morning" Marie and I greeted simultaneously. "Oh Emily, I forgot to tell you it's our turn to cook tomorrow" She said ."yes, we each take turns with the cooking here" Linda chimed in . "Since we only have one kitchen, we decided it would be better to take turns" Doris added. "I hope your cooking is as good as you look" Marie smiled at me. We helped Doris and Linda setup the table.
We sat round a Wooden table and had our breakfast. We finished eating and cleared the table. Then we all walked towards the palaces .
"Have you been assigned to your post yet?" Linda asked.
"No, what do you mean by post" I answered.
"Okay, it means that each of us have our duties , thing we do everyday, for example I mostly do laundry and some do cleaning" She replied. "but your post will be where you have to clean everyday" She added.
"I sure hope you are not assigned to the young master's room" Doris said with a straight face.
" By that, you mean the prince" I responded . I was a bit worried ."how bad could he be" I thought. We chatted until we finally got to the palace.
We entered a room and lined up . There were about eight of us . The mistress was already waiting in the room. "Good morning ladies" she greeted."morning ma'am" We all replied. "I believe you all know your post" She added .
"Yes ma'am" We all replied simultaneously
"Good .Now that we are all accounted for, you can start work" she said.
All the maid went their separate ways, I was still standing "um... mistress " I called. "Oh Emily I almost forgot , you have been assigned to the prince's chamber" she said . "Huh" I gasped.
"Mistress , the prince's...Chamber" I stammered. "Yes is there a problem" she asked. "No ma'am" I hesitated. "Now then,his majesty should be out now, so all you have to do Is clean his room " she said. "Yes ma'am" I replied . "And word of advice don't take too long" She trailed off.
"Great ,just my luck" I said as I was about to enter his majesty's chamber. I took a broom and began to sweep the floor. I finished sweeping the floor and proceeded to mopping.
Suddenly the door opened , and it was the prince. He was a tall and handsome man,he had the prettiest blue eyes and well trimmed black hair. He was wearing a white shirt and black trousers.
Our eyes met and he slowly approached me with a look of curiosity on his face. I looked away and continued with what I was doing . "What should I do he's coming towards me" I wondered . What was he planning to do .
