"My lady, I have asked that demo- I mean, Lady Rachael, to join us for dinner and to head back to the main house. She shall be here within the next hour. There is no need for you to be so anxious."
The head maid looked at her mistress with pitiful eyes. She did not know what had gotten into her mistress to call for one who ruined her married life, but the head maid could not disobey her words.
But that did not mean she had to be polite for her request to be followed. She would make Rachael's life a living hell if she remained in the Chlorance estate.
"You asked her to come here? And…what did that child say? Did she say she was going to come? You were polite to her, right?"
Sherry Chlorance seemed to be anxious about something. The head maid had served her long enough to realize that much.
