'Rachael…flinched away from my touch. Why? What happened?'
Elias's mind was a mess.
He felt betrayed by Rachael's small action, and then he felt agitated for handling betrayed in the first place.
He was the one who insisted that he felt nothing for Rachael, and yet, he was also the one who wanted to be acknowledged by her the most.
Even now, he wanted to warp his arms around Rachael and pull her close to his chest.
His instincts were roaring at him to do what he wanted and pull Rachael closer to his body.
But Elias knew better than to do that. He did not want to scare Rachael away.
So, he allowed Rachael to stand while keeping a certain distance from her. He needed to be able to help her out if her legs gave out.
[Finally, kid! You scared me by fainting suddenly. I could not find your presence anywhere, but you were here. Hey, are you alright?]
Louch noticed how quiet and withdrawn Rachael was at that moment.
