Ardella held the baby close to her chest and looked at the door as soon as it opened.
She had a bad feeling about it, and it got even worse when she noticed the person standing at the door entry.
"Duke Goodwill, what can I help you with? If you are here to gain custody of this child, then I am afraid that I will not be able to help you."
Ardella sounded angry but protective at the same time. She tried to twist her body to hide the child behind her.
But the Duke did not back down or show that he understood Ardella.
Instead, he walked into the room and stood before the duchess with his full authority showing.
"Duchess Ardella, you know you and that child are a danger to this world. Also, that child is taking your powers from you slowly and killing you as a result. So, we all concluded that only one of you can live now. It can be either you or that child."
