The ride back to the Chlorance estate was quiet. Both sides did not want to say anything, now worried they would offend the other.
But in the end, John was desperate to gain Ardella's favour, so he opened his mouth.
"My lady, have I done something to offend you? You won't even look at me, much less say a word to me now. If there is anything you find dissatisfactory, then tell me. I will do what I can to make it right."
