All the lieutenants gathered there couldn't help but be impressed with their general's prediction.
This indeed showed that the two were opponents ,who've been fighting for years and knew each other well.
"What are you waiting for!? Man your battle stations!" The general commanded before heading out.
A dozen meters away from their encampment, roughly two hundred men in scarlet metallic armor could be seen soaring towards their location at full speed.
Leading the charge was a man in white robes, "Dragon Claw!" the commander muted silently.
"What are you waiting for!? Launch the slingshot!!!" The commander shouted as his men got moving.
Heavy slingshot artilleries were fired towards the approaching enemies but like the irresistible force they were, they didn't bother to even dodge, they directly crushed through the ball bearings and marbles.
"Archerssss!!!! Release!!!!"
Thousands of arrows laced with fire and poison were shot towards the approaching enemies, but were all knocked down, the positive thing was that the storm of arrows slowed them down a bit.
"Activate the defense formation!!" The commander shouted.
A big blue dome whirled into action, covering the entire fortress.
"This should hold on for a few days" The commander breathed in a huge sigh of relief.
The defense formation guarding the fortress could defend them from the attack of two Immortal Kings attacking it simultaneously.
The Dragon Claw guards may be powerful, but even they would need time to breach through this formation.
He was just about to give an order when he saw the man in white robes continue to speed towards the formation.
Upon reaching the formation, the man in white robes threw a punch at the blue barrier.
The moment his fist collided on the blue dome, cracks began to spread across the surface of the dome, it looked like the shattering of glasses.
CRACK! CRACK!
BOOM!!!!
Large spiritual energy spread out through the battlefield.
The dome collapsed after Impact, stunning all the soldiers there.
They all stared at the man in white robes, with silver hair as he floated in the sky above them, their hearts were gripped with fear.
At this moment in time, they had all lost the will to fight.
The Dragon Claw guards finally landed within the fortress, creating explosions due to their landing impacts.
Screams of agony were ahead as the Dragon Claw began their massacre.
The commander of the troops who was standing in the rear of the army turned to the messenger, "Send word to the capital, tell the imperial court that the elite army of the empire has lost.
The capital should prepare for a siege!" He declared in a daze as he wore his battle helmet.
He took his halberd and rose to the sky, his lieutenants following suit. They were twenty in total, and we're all at he peak of the Sky Lord Realm. Among their forces, only the general was a Supreme Sovereign.
"Gentlemen, it's been an honor! Let's bath in blood one final time and meet in the afterlife!" He roared in laughter before shooting off towards Gu Shang location.
The new lieutenant from the palace couldn't help but ask the others, "Are we just going to attack like this? Shouldn't there be a plan?"
"There is a plan, didn't you hear the General.... fight to our deaths!" One lieutenant said as he also shot out into the battlefield, the rest following.
"We are doomed!!'
.....
Ancestral Capital, Wei empire
The Wei empire ancestral capital was almost as large as imperial Domain, if not larger. Huge metallic walls surrounded all the four walls of the capital.
Written on the walls were formation runes, not only that but there were also strange glowing crystals within the walls.
The city was filled with thousands and thousands of people, but it seemed devoid of life or joy, the people had long become weary of the wars their emperor had been wagging, there was never enough supplies or even food.
Many commoners had lost their families after they were drafted to war, the capital was a very pitiful sight to see, despite all their grand and magnificent architectures.
In the middle of the capital stood a giant structure. It was the imperial palace, on any other day, it would have been a grand sight to see but now, the place was surrounded by troops on all sides, it almost looked like a military base.
The heavy security was obviously because of the civil unrest in the capital, the commoners were always trying to start a revolution so the emperor had to tighten security.
In the dragon lair, a few men could be seen wearing imperial blue robes as they all bowed to a man sitting on a throne.
The man was a very dashing looking person who was around the age of thirty-five, he wore golden imperial robes along with a crown which made him look even more dashing.
No one would believe that such a dashing young man, could be vicious enough to kill his eldest brother, take the throne by force and then burn his brother's family to ashes.
He was Wei Sheng, ruler of the Wei empire.
In the dragon lair were a few of his trusted men who had helped him gain the throne, right now there was a heated discussion going on.
"Your majesty, the commoners are refusing to pay taxes, this is slowing down our military campaign, besides I hear that they are planning a rebellion, your majesty please punish them, also allow me to personally lead a small group of soldiers to teach them a lesson!" The prime minister of the state reported.
[The prime minister was the biggest contributor during the rebellion, he was the one who killed the empress and the twelve year old Crown Prince, He burned the two to death]
The emperor couldn't help but chuckle, "Prime Minister Chen is indeed evil, I may not be a sage ruler, but I'm no monster either.
I want to rule humans, not skeletons! The heavy taxes imposed on them it's already enough. Besides I can't have my subject turn on me any much longer.
I'm only a ruler because they are my subjects, I should at least show this level of benevolence"
The emperor said with a compassionate voice.
The officials couldn't help but secretly snicker, look who was talking about benevolence!
Where was that benevolence when he burned his brother's wife and child and dragged the corps of his brother through the streets of the capital? What a pretentious bastard!
Of course they weren't going to say it out loud.
"But you majesty, the royal treasury is without a single gold coin, how are we going to manage the affairs of the royal palace?" The prime minister asked.
"You don't have to worry about that, I've already put plans in place to sort that out.
Very soon, the Wei elite forces will attack the Immortal empire" The emperor announced.
All the officials were surprised to hear this, they had no idea of this, only a few trusted men of the emperor knew of this.
Non of them knew about the deployment of the elite forces so it was quite a shocking news to them.
"Your majesty pardon this old subject, but what do you mean by that statement, I can't quite understand it well!" An official asked.
"You heard me right, very soon our elite forces would attack the Immortal empire, they've already been deployed three days ago!" The emperor explained, causing the Dragon Lair to burst in whispers.
"But your majesty, the Immortal empire has a very strong army, besides their Grand General isn't one to trifle with, previous encounters have shown this!" An old official stepped out to disagree.
"The Immortal empire itself isn't that much of a big deal, they are too divided on the inside, the only stumbling block in my way, it's that boy.
But worry not, I've already made some arrangements, very soon the Immortal empire will fall into great chaos and internal strife" The emperor said as he got off his throne.
The Wei emperor was a very tall man, with a well built body, every action of his exuded elegance and authority. He slowly climbed down the stairs as his long dark golden imperial robes followed.
A map had been stretched across a board infront of him.
"Our elite troops are stationed at the southern boarders, Very soon an event will destabilized the entire Immortal empire?"
"Your majesty, sorry to say, but what kind of events can the Grand General not deal with, I hear he currently have the entire empire within his grasp, what kind of problem can he not deal with before it escalate to an uncontrollable level?" An official couldn't help but ask.
All the officials there doubted whether this so called 'event' would really do any harm.
"What if it's an event he can't control, because he wouldn't be around? For example, let's say... The death of the Grand General!!" The emperor said with a curved smile.
